RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted January 23, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 23, 2016 A fresh outbreak of cryptic limericking has appeared on the Oxford Rail website, along with a countdown that should expire about 0900 tomorrow. Looks like they will be announcing one loco and four items of rolling stock. John
darrel
The steam, the dust, which filled his eyes. The coal, the sweat, that made him cry. The heat, the smoke, which made him die. Oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why. So must be a kettle of some description then
RMweb Premium it's-er Posted January 23, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 23, 2016 Tomorrow Sunday 24 January is the start of London Toy Fair, where Oxford is exhibiting, so that ties in neatly. John
SDJR7F88
By the looks of things and the way What Goes Here ? is spaced out, it looks to be a new loco and 4 wagons of some sort?
gardenwall
I think that is an extract from the same poem used before. So there is a possibility that this announcement will be the revelation of the green Adams, possibly in the paint or even the box, and 4 further 7 plank liveries. It may be something else, but the recent rise of duplication in the model world has led a number to play things increasingly close to their chests, keeping developments in the pipeline quiet until later in the process. No doubt there are other thing under development, but what those are may be kept until a little later.
JSpencer
Looking at the way it is spaced, if it were a further Adams and 7 planks then surely they would go under existing headers. This suggests 1 entirely newly tooled loco class and 4 entire pieces of rolling stock to me. Very exciting.
ady77014
If you open the Adams link they show three new livery options...

BG John
Not a Dean Goods! I haven't finished converting to EM and backdating the Mainline one I bought when they first came out yet. Although it's getting a bit closer to the front of the queue!
SDJR7F88
Wow! Superb news indeed! I see it says under Update on the Deans Goods, it says Tooling Already Developed, so could it be not that fair off?
RMweb Premium uax6 Posted January 24, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 24, 2016 Notice that the BR and LNER versions of the cattle wagons have the photos the wrong way round! Owww a NBR 4 plank... Looks like I may have to purchase some wagons this year.... Andy G
RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted January 24, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 24, 2016 Three livery versions including a BR black version with early crest. No price though.
RMweb Premium Kris Posted January 24, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 24, 2016 The MK3 seems a strange choice given the rest of their range, it doesn't really fit.
olivegreen
Well done Oxford for planning the SR green liveried 0415!
RMweb Premium gc4946 Posted January 24, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 24, 2016 Dean Goods - long overdue, welcome 21st century version of a former Mainline loco, and appearing in lined GWR livery as a bonus. 4-plank wagons - they're all Scottish prototypes, could this herald a future introduction of a Scotland-based loco class? Mk3 - it's about time to produce a range covering both loco-hauled and HST types with consistent details, instead of a hodge-podge of Hornby, Jouef and Lima versions. LNER cattle wagon and 6-plank open - welcome additions to RTR LNER wagons on offer.
BG John
I don't want to cause unnecessary panic, but this pre-production electronically decorated version doesn't show daylight under the boiler, although the line drawings of the other versions do. Has anyone converted the Radial to EM, as I'd be interested in the Dean Goods if it's a fairly straightforward conversion, there is daylight in the right places, and the price doesn't scare me off bashing it about to backdate it to 1905ish condition. 217 RIVER FLESK
If there is no light under the boiler, then I won't be buying one - if this is the Oxford way, then they won't be selling much to me. Disappointed if this is the case - come on Hornby, show them how it's done . . . Cheers, Mike C

That is dire - it looks worse than the promotional illustrations for the old Airfix version all those years ago. They're going to have to do better than this if they want to be taken seriously - and I'm talking about the standard of their promotional material; I'll reserve judgement of the model until it is released ! coachmann
Calm down guys.......It's a wind up. Keyhole on t'other side... Dean Goods is very welcome, but will it be on the shelves before Hornby's......?
David Bigcheeseplant
I must admit the Dean Goods does not inspire me, it just looks wrong. I don't think many locos had top feed. Also the tender seems to be the 3000 gallon version most received 2500 gallon versions. The skirt under the boiler is a real no no. The colour looks insipid too. BernardTPM
I suspect that 'no daylight' is simply poor electronic painting. If it were a moulded skirt it would be vertical, not sloped.
