I see that 88002 is out on test light engine today and maybe all week from what Facebook tells us!

Might just have to have a look...

It lives.

It works under the wires

Hmmm - wonders if it's feasible to convert from a Dapol 68.....?

Cheers,

Mick

It certainly does!

Not the best photo by any means, because it was taken on my phone, but 'Prometheus' is seen working the return inaugural outing as the 0Z89/1104 Crewe to Carlisle Kingmoor Sdgs DRS LE move, running almost bang on time (a minute early).

Thanks,

Jack.

Out of interest, where was the photo taken?

The 88 is out again today.

Just south of Leyland station at Euxton Junction...hopefully I'll get out tomorrow with more than a phone to phot' it properly.

Thanks,

Jack.

Hello all,

Thanks to those who posted links.

That is a great looking locomotive. Stylish, purposeful and I love the slight retro touch of the silver tanks on the roof. Is it correct that the 88 is longer than the 68? Anyone know how much longer?

Cheers

Ben A.

Making up the full delivery, 88006/7/9/10 along with 68026/027 should be arriving in Workington later today on board the MV Atlantic.

I may have to venture out on Thursday to catch 88002 on it's test run

Just because, no other reason.

Cheers,

Mick

Are DRS going to allocate the 88's to the Daventry-purfleet flow?

I have heard that a pair will be allocated to the 4S43 Daventry to Mossend and return 4M48 Mossend to Daventry workings but I am unsure if they are going to be allocated to other intermodal diagrams. However with eight spare they must have some plans for them.

Well I had a great day out at Carlisle today, and I must say there's a lot of monies worth of brand new kit in Kingmoor at the minute...

88003 and 88008 were the only two not in the line up that arrived the other day, with 88006, 88007, 88009 and 88010 still in the order they arrived in, as well as 68026 and 68027.

Thanks,

Jack.

Copy of post I put into the 68 thread showing detail of red stripes

Just watched these two videos (not mine). EDIT the red strips over the doors as continuation of the body markings are on the new 88's, not 68's. Slight variation in livery presumably to reflect them being part leccy.

Reports on Gen groups saying that 88002 has towed 66727 on 6S94 (Dollands Moor - Irvine) into Grayrigg Down Loop from Garstang area - so they have worked their first revenue service.
