Only going on the last time I talked to one of the DB drivers I know it's very reliable for a steam loco. He said he guesses because it's all new rather than a mix of parts so they are wearing together rather than some older parts causing more wear or strain on new parts.

Now it's just sorting path and crew to get it back in place.

So due down the ECML tonight then?

I wish some people would STFU about FS and just enjoy it when it is around. We are lucky to have any steam on the main line so support it, don't castigate those that work so hard to provide it.

Have a good weekend.

Love the timing comment on RTT - timed for 168mph max. New steam world speed record attempt down Stoke Bank?

Arrives @36E 17:24, departs 17:39.

I expect, on current timings, to see her on Stoke Bank on the way home, she is 6 minutes in front at Stoke Junction and 5 behind us at Tallington. Mind you that is all assuming we can keep up with her given the maximum speed timing  :locomotive:

p.s. I do realise it is an RTT faux pas

It's a VSTP scheduling faux pas rather than RTT.

Beast - thank you for that correction - help from those 'in the know' is always welcomed. She left York 4 1/2 late by the way.

.............and was on time in 36E along with very friendly BTP Escort. One shift from York to 36E and the next shift 36E to the X Finsbury Park (?) (as it is going via Acton to Southall of course.

Running 7 6 early at Grantham.

The injectors are more likely to have failed due to the water used, some scale in a pipe dislodging or similar getting into them than an actual restoration fault. If a foreign object disrupts the flow around the cone they just don't work. Just take apart and clean, fortunately on the locos I've done it on the injector fitted in the hand but I suspect these are a tad heavier ;)

17.39 at 36E.

I was looking at how FS fitted into my trouser measurements :O But the question of is that FS in your pocket are are you please to see me is a bit obvious.

For the many who have have no idea of where an old (and opaque) shed referencing system meets modern geography could you please include actual place names. Sorry, but its been bugging me for some time.

Ian riley has reported that the injectors have been giving problems since returning to traffic, which suggest a problem in their overhaul rather than a scaling or water issue.

So 36E is either Retford or Newark. That's cleared that up, then ;)

The Web is your friend.

Phil (yes, at 36E today) and that is Retford where there were two sheds, both numbered 36E. Fun isn't it.

And it seems that 36E was Newark as well, so how are we to tell the difference?

Newark was, I think I am right in saying, a sub shed to Retford. So 36E would always map to Retford initially and only, once there, would it be apparent that Newark was the intended destination.

Well 20 people's details taken by BTP today at two locations. Quite pleasant atmosphere at the three places I was present for it passing with no problems and chatting about why we were out on patrol.

It's a VSTP scheduling faux pas rather than RTT.

Isnt that the metres travelled per second at 75mph?

It happens quite a lot but the main thing is that the schedule is actually correct for the maximum speed.
