Jinty's WB for 7mm

Hi David,

Well that didn't take you long, the tail lamps look the bizz. Would there be any chance of a look at the vero board set up, as I'm a right numpty when it comes to electrical set ups.

I have never heard of " youchoos ", I thought for some reason you had used one of Modelu's lamps and drilled up through the lamp body, brilliant that will save me some work.

I have decided to use a hex frog juicer for the two slips on the layout for two reasons,

1/ as above I am rubbish at electrics,

2/ my back is not to good and by the time it would take me to sort out the polarities under the baseboards, my back would be in an even worse condition.

Apart from that I love modelling in 7mm. : )

ATB,

Martyn.

Hi Martyn,

Thanks, yes I will get a picture of what is inside the body for you.

But it will be tomorrow now as I'm getting ready to go out.

It's all quite straight forward really, if you can hard wire a normal decoder, then you'll be able to do this.

As I said above, I used some 10K resistors to drop the lighting down a tad, and there is the option to drop it a bit more with CV's on the Zimo if needed.

I used a hex frog juicer on the crossing complex as well, because I'm not brilliant with electrickery either.

It runs seamless as well, even with two of the frogs on the threeway next to each other.

(Apparently it can give some problems sometimes!)

Yes I'm enjoying 7mm too, best move I ever made!

Ok here is a little update.................................

Heljan class 37 Split H/Code box version.

Being finished as 37015 in BR Banger Blue and has had the valences removed, PH Design buffer beams, Markits Sprung Buffers, JLTRT Diesel Detailing kit.

The boiler has been blanked off and the steps (and door) have been filled in, moulded horn grilles drilled out and etched horn grilles fitted. Also single dot plates over the head code boxes and the loco given a full respray in Blue and Yellow Celly.

I then fitted Fox Transfers numbers, indecisive arrows, GD Emblem above the number, coupling code stars (some pictures she has them, but others she doesn't!!!!) and the OHLE warning panels.

After all a mist of Testors Dullcote to seal it all in before a weathering.

Yet to fit the etched PH Design steps, made them up but just not fitted them yet.

37015 is also fitted out with DCC sound, via a Zimo MX696 and a 10w 8ohm speaker in the tanks.

I've shown a picture below of the decoder install, with the very handy adaptor board that's available from most Zimo stockists and I've also made the whole thing sectional so parts can be removed if required such as bogies, etc. I have used terminal blocks soldered to Vero board which will connect up the lighting circuits.

Once the loco has been weathered I will re-glaze it, fit the cab interiors and roof fan, and no doubt there'll be something else I'll of forgotten.

What carp pictures in the last post!!!!

There is far too much noise on the picture, so I set about altering this camera and found that the ISO setting was on Auto but it was setting the ISO much too high, so I set it on manual, altered the shutter speed to about 10 seconds at F22 and took the picture.

Now there is clarity and a decent depth of field to the picture.

I'm still finding my way with this new camera, but these little victories all help!

I took another picture of Brian's 37 as well with my new found skill!!!!! ;)

Thanks Brian,

You probably used too many Emojies........................

It tells me off sometimes for too many as well.

Edited:  To say - When were they changed from Smilies to Emojies?

A bit further on with the split box 37,  remaining bits fitted and then a good weathering.

And then I finished the BR 20t Brake Van that had been awaiting my getting the airbrush out, so a couple of pictures of that too:

Just the lighting circuits to make up now for the 37, then a good cleaning of the wheels and a good testing.

The class 37 split box is just about finished, just a couple of little tidy up bits to do.

I had a sound and lighting test this evening, I have done a video but I'll upload it in the morning before work as it's too late now.

I did take a couple of pictures this evening, deliberately under exposed to show the lights working, the headcode lights are cool white but through a 10k resistor to drop the brightness, and show quite well through the Precision Labels white film. The tail lights are reds LED's mounted from behind and fibre optic fitted to the apetures to feed the light through.

The cab light is rather dim, I need to alter the CV's on that to increase the brightness.

It was lovely to see you again Andy, maybe shouldn't leave it so long next time.

I can, hand on heart, say that neither me nor Sarah ate any of those lovely looking things you left behind. My lads enjoyed them though!!!!!   :O  :O  :jester:

I'm over one and a half stone lighter now, so I don't want to spoil things!!!
