RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted March 24, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) I have been told what this is, but I can't remember - I know that it is an Italian Crosti - the photo was in Dad's collection. He went through Italy on his way to the Middle East in the 1930s, so it could have been taken then. Please find the worst travesty of a steam loco - a round-about - park railway - (Don't include Thomas or we will get sued) Edited March 24, 2017 by phil_sutters

EddieB
Back to October 1973 (and my trusty Instamatic). Class 09 D4102 had done a bit of a "heavy shunt" of parcels stock at Waterloo. the railwayman looks a bit overcome. The next one will of a loco pushing or in the middle of its train.

EddieB
Well it has to be steam. Here is DR oil-fired 2-10-0 44 0194 at rest, and then banking a freight (hauled by classmate 44 0338) up the hill out of Sangerhausen, August 1978. The next one will be an electric operating with both pantographs raised. Edited March 24, 2017 by EddieB

RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted March 25, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 25, 2017 (edited) The date on this photo may not be accurate, as it was from a batch of negatives in an envelope marked 1963, but one or two others have proved to have been from other dates. EddieB
Two branch line terminus loco sheds for the price of one - because I'm not absolutely sure one of them survives. First Thaxted - former terminus of a branch line from Elsenham. Here is the loco shed and water tower (from April 1977) - I think both still exist. Second Moretonhamptead - former terminus of a branch from Newton Abbot - loco shed still standing in 2012. Staying with this theme, the next picture shows a water column or water crane.
