No, but they have supplied chairs, which is good. We are directly opposite the BRM stand, so we've seen various RMWeb alumni although not Mr York yet. Yes this is the only layout I have ever heard of being taken on trips to the country. Most layouts just settle for an old church hall or school but not Ladmanlow Sidings - it loves the great outdoors!

RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted February 12, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2022 I'm happy to report that it has been a great day, with lots of interest in Ladmanlow from both fellow exhibitors and the general public. I've had some very nice complements, both on the layout, and on the photographs. It was definitely a plus to display the photographs, and explain to people how and where they were taken. A surprisingly large number of people thought that the photos were of the real railway, and were comparing them with details on the layout... Thoroughly enjoyed the day, and looking forward to tomorrow. Al. 7
RMweb Gold 5BarVT Posted February 12, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2022 Hello Al, Was good to see the layout in the flesh today, and to chat. As I said, no signals, so I can’t pontificate on the rightness or otherwise (!); just nice to admire the work of someone who has the scenic skills I’ve not got sorted yet. Glad you enjoyed being out for the first time too. Paul. 1 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post Alister_G Posted February 13, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 13, 2022 (edited) Back home now, after a second enjoyable day. The layout and stock ran almost perfectly, but we had to re-clean the track several times throughout both days, no idea where all the muck came from. We were located right by the main entrance: and opposite the BRM stand: We had a steady stream of visitors throughout both days: A birdseye view of some shuntage: We managed to keep up a steady stream of traffic into and out of the yard, and were able to give some of the younger visitors the chance to sound the loco whistle or pick which siding a train would end up in, which I hope they enjoyed. We had some really amazing comments, both on the layout, and on the displayed photos, which was great. Before the show, I was seriously worried that the layout was not up to par, and would not hold visitors interest, but those fears were unfounded, and a lot of the visitors stayed to watch as we shunted wagons and vans around. Many people were asking about the walling, and how I had built it, too. I think the general consensus was "you're mad"... It's been a brilliant weekend, and thank you to everybody who visited. Thanks for looking, Al. EDIT: Forgot to say, I've also received a number of invitations to show Ladmanlow at other exhibitions around the country, which is most humbling. I really need to start a fixtures diary! Edited February 3, 2023 by Alister_G replaced images 10 16
RMweb Gold JustinDean Posted February 13, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2022 I’ve seen Ladmanlow appear in a number of model railway Facebook groups today. RMweb Gold Andrew D Posted February 13, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2022 I have to admit, it was my favourite layout of the show. I'd definitely love to see it again. Still wading through the 89 pages... So pleased it was a success for you, I really enjoyed Ladmanlow. 1
