RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted November 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 6, 2019 I wonder if pacer demise is of interest to bus preservationists ? those original seats (at least the pairs if not the triples) might be of use. Are there other parts that are common Leyland sizes ? - Doors, Windows etc ?
woodenhead
Trip out today - Flixton-Oxford Rd-Lancaster and back. I've seen the following classes: 150 195 319 323 (on Chat Moss services) 331 390 But no 142s. These 195s are a bit rough on the WCML - I was having trouble getting my mouse to click on an agree icon for another thread.
Owd Bob
The Wigan area is still a good place to see the pacers, and now it's finally stopped raining i'll get the speed boat out and go see if i can find a few this aft'.....that's if the line has been re-opened at Atherton. 1

No truth to the rumour that due to flooding in the Atherton area, pacers have been seen diverted nodding and floating down the Ship canal to Manchester then ? Boat owners complaining that due to the bouncing excessive waves are being created along the bank sides... but theres a queue of pacers at Castlefield locks stuck in the one platform bottle nevk that exists there since roman times. 25901
Well as I’ve broken my thumb (god knows how) and sick note is in I think a bit of 142 hunting might now take place. Beats watching Last Of The Summer Wine or Loose Women, then again you can watch plenty Loose Women on a Friday night at Leeds station. 2

What's the Pacer/shopping trolley exchange rate these days? 43 minutes ago, 25901 said: bit of 142 hunting might now take place. Beats watching Last Of The Summer Wine Mostly 144s in Last of the Summer Wine country I think (Penistone line), and last time I looked (Wednesday), pacers covered 3 out of 4 of the possible pacer services I saw going through Rotherham (the other was a pair of 153s). However, right at the moment Rotherham's flooded out, along with other spots in the area. At some point today, Doncaster-Scunthorpe services were running via Adwick and the freight line via Thorpe Marsh, as Kirk Sandall was flooded. Those are probably pacers too. Happy hunting.
60091
Gone from the Newcastle area ? Although I haven't spent hours watching, not seen a Pacer on the Tyne Valley Line since mid October. Was also at Newcastle Central twice today... none to be seen !

Owd Bob
I never did get to go out for a swim yesterday, as the local lines were deffo shut, but Wigan is the place to be to see the 142's, loose women and plenty of 'Compo' look-a-likes, and all on Wallgate.

Maenclochog tunnel in Pembrokeshire was targeted by dummy bouncing bombs, I think one bounced right through (it's not a long tunnel).

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 16, 2019 I’ve had a good day out today going to the model railway exhibition in Wakefield, and went by rail round by Leeds from Hull. At Leeds various 142’s and 144’s were seen, and I took several photo’s of them. Here’s 144020 on a service to Knottingley at 13.58: 142029 was in the adjacent platform after working in as the 144 departed. And at 17.44, at platform 11b, was 144007. Best regards, Rob.

Excellent photos. I regularly pass through Leeds but don't really ever have the time for photos. I read last night on Twitter that apparently 16 or 17 Northern 142s have now been removed from traffic. No numbers were listed or any locations but that would seem appropriate considering that more 195s and 331s have entered service in the past few weeks. According to said Twitter post it's 16 or 17 removed from traffic currently due to not knowing if the 142 reinstated a few weeks ago has returned to store or not. RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 16, 2019 Freightliner and GBRf have already been contracted to move 142s for scrap. Some to Sims Metals and possibly some to Eastleigh Works - for possible "further use" if platform end wibble is to be believed - RHTT conversion. 1

I don't suppose you know when the first is due to go for disposal and where from etc? RHTT conversion sounds very interesting.
