RMweb Gold russ p Posted June 21, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 21, 2019 I think it was a bespoke austin rover design, not sure if any working prototypes were built. Chris M
The MG SV was a ridiculous flight of fantasy by Kevin Howe which wasted money MG Rover hadn't got. They bought an Italian company Qvale to use their basic design. This is the MG EXE -https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwj6iaOPpfziAhVRBWMBHQiyAmEQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fhe.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FMG_EX-E&psig=AOvVaw0TM6U4gPYAdygvI8l4rQHq&ust=1561265429285322 A Rover 75 coupe was planned but that was near the end and there wasn't enough cash to do it. 1

If the body is sound with no corrosion and it's good to drive, it is worth the relatively small cost parts replacement. It now owes you nothing, and you should easily get that money back even in the event of a major failure, as there are plenty of Golf enthusiasts out there looking for a 'project car'. Funnily enough the air air con compressor has just gone after coughing up 75 quid for a refill .Ouch, so 500 straight away.Still might be worth keeping as it goes so well but its starting to tun out of luck .its replacement might be worse though . Air conditioning? Just open the windows. I've used the air con on my current car about 4 times in 6 years and done around 70000 miles in it.

It's 16 years old so pretty likely I'll be it's last owner. It lives in a garage so condensation isn't a huge problem either. Personally I don't like air conditioning in any application but that's just me.

If i hadnt managed to get by the side of a huge truck and get some shade i think i would have done.I rapidly pulled off the next exit. Vowed then to get aircon .The doggys like it too .Unfortunately the price of a nice new car stays firmly locked into my wifes rainy day account .crow bar needed. RMweb Gold big jim Posted June 26, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 26, 2019 Been looking at a superchip bluefin for the cooper, stage 1 gives it 8bhp extra which is neither here nor there really however stage 2 will give it 40bhp more but that’s designed for cars with updated supercharger pulleys and larger intercooler, as my car is about to hit the magic 100k miles where they recommend a supercharger oil service I may well get the pulley changed over for a 17% variant while the local performance mini specialists have the charger off, they charge £375 for the service which being as its a complete front of the car off job is a good price as they do them day in day out so have it done in 5 hours, to swap the pulley only adds £30 to the labour cost as it’s a lot easier to do while the supercharger is off the car, I can get a pulley and belt for £95 myself that they are happy to fit, I can get a used bluefin handset off eBay for £30 and they will “reblow” it for £160 which is a considerable saving over the £250 for a brand new handset/chip IF I do all that it should push out the best part of 220-230bhp which is John cooper works territory However before all that i’ve Got to replace the front top struts and rear brake callipers, they are in stock at home but just trying to find the time to get it in to be done, oh and taking the lowering springs off the convertible and returning it to standard is another job too thankfully the murano only cost me £65 to put right for the MOT the joys of running modern classics
faulcon1
Here's a video of a 1970's XA Superbird Falcon restored by the son of the original owner or his dad.
faulcon1
This car will enter the modern classics in due course. The car shown here was not a car specially modified by it's owner, this is how they came from the factory for any member of the public to buy. In the UK it may have some trouble on the one lane two way country lanes.
faulcon1
Well the XA Falcon coupe was done by professionals. But not everyone who restores old cars can afford to get professionals to do it. So we have this video which is the final of twenty six videos. This man is a high school teacher and before that he was a motor mechanic working for Ford and Nissan. He got bored with fixing cars for a living but just loves doing it as his hobby. He's also restored old motorbikes and lawnmowers too. This video gives you a glimpse of how the car was when he bought it and two years later how he's restored it. He lives at Ringwood a suburb of Melbourne Victoria. Just up the road from him is Puffing Billy but he's not a railway enthusiast. Not everyone is. Edited June 27, 2019 by faulcon1

cheesysmith
My modern classic has been off road for a few years now, safely in a garage, whilst I have children . What?, A Nissan R33skyline. The GTS-t version. That means 2 door, rear whee! Drive, Turbo inline 2.6L 6cylinder with around 280bhp. Never have I had anything to sideways as easily as that.
