Hammer
And another vote for a Saab 900 Turbo coupe classic. For carrying layouts around in amongst other things. steve Despite previous votes, I'd second that. But only with the registration KAR 120C, bceause I am not a number... Jamie
I'm wondering what the silver thing Del puts in second place is, the --N plate thing? Nice tastes in the main. I'd have to go along with the TR6 though, followed by the Rover P5 +/ P6. Will never happen as when it comes to mechanical stuff, well I couldnae put a nut in a monkey's mouth as they say locally. Arthur
To help with cub camps and collecting the frogeye when I undoubtedly break it. Alistair Yep, good for collecting things, here's mine, towing something a bit heavier than a Sprite... Arthur
Talltim
Mercedes 6.3 SEL Current Maserati Quattroporte I have a thing for big luxury cars with a bit of perfomance although that Lancia 037 pictured earlier is nice

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted May 17, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 17, 2010 It's a Vauxhall Firenza... Was that version called a "droop-snoot", as driven by the late Gerry Marshall in the then-equivalent of the BTCC?
gordon s
Was that version called a "droop-snoot", as driven by the late Gerry Marshall in the then-equivalent of the BTCC? Certainly is a droop snoot, but I'll need to dig about a bit re Gerry Marshall. Fairly sure you are right as I used to follow the touring cars series until the 90's. Edit: Didn't take long.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerry_Marshall
Horsetan
In practical terms, the one I've got now (see pic), but with bigger anti-roll bars, some tweaks to the engine management and AFM (already have the new parts for this!), and maybe even a TCD turbo kit. At least I don't have to worry about LED lighting, as I'm developing the circuit boards for this myself! But there are only two other cars I would like to add: - I'd like to have my old 1973 NSU Ro80 back; it had a Mazda RX-7 Wankel in it, you see, and was a bit quick. - A BMW Z8, but not registered after 2000 so I don't get hit for extra road tax. ....easy pray.... I recommend attending church for this

alcazar
At age 20, I had a MkII Lotus Cortina with stage 2 cams. It was magic, but drank oil. I then had a MkI Mexico at 24. I now drive this: looks like a standard UK car, but it has over 400bhp and around the same torque in ftlbs. The suspension and brakes have been uprated to cope, (since that photo was taken, the rear brakes have been changed to 316mm Brembos off a 2004 STi). Oh, and the wheels are now gunmetal grey. My DREAM car was always, and will always be this: Ford RS200 Evolution.
Paperlad
My boyhood dream car. Still looking great even if it was 1970. Oh yes, it's an Alfa Montreal I'll think of some more later. I guess a very big garage is needed PL

I guess a very big garage is needed PL had one of those some years ago, great car but near bankrupted me running it! I sold it and bought this.... But its now for sale and I'm after one of these... Andrew Peters
OK here's my dream car. Well it is since I've owned her. I wish she looked like this now but currently she's in bits being restored. 1966 Pontiac LeMans. Kindly taken by Bob & Anni at Shakespeare County Raceway at Long Marston, a few years back. A very rare American car as it was built in Antwerp. So never turned a wheel in the states. I would also agree with Landy 101 Lancia Delta
Dave777
Easy for me – Lancia Stratos. Totally bonkers and utterly beautiful. (yes, I know that’s a replica) Every year I seem to re-investigate if I can build one or afford a turn-key one and every year I come away thinking ‘Boy that’s a lot of money for a car that’s so crude…’. The boyhood dream never quite goes away though.

The boyhood dream never quite goes away though. The gorgeous Stratos was so very nearly my choice but the Lancia Rally 037 sneaked it due to being slightly less bonkers and crude but quicker. Adrian Wintle
For me it would be the Ferrari 288 GTO, a BMW M1 (in Gp4 trim), and a Mopar pony car - Challenger or Barracuda for preference. The Ford GT40 MkII is pretty tasty too... Add a Lancia 037, and an Impreza WRC (or an Escort Cossie) for playing in the dirt... Adrian
James
OK, all pie in the sky dreamers gather up, what would your dream car be? Regardless of money, space, "out-of-production"... I think I'd need a dream garage in which to keep all of my choices!
coachmann
When I see people dreaming about owning a British-built car of yore, I cannot think of greater liability. Sloppy steering, poor linkage on column-gear change, brakes, poor fuel consumption, lousy handbrake, mickey mouse design, lazy assembly.... They had built-in rust under the paint and box traps like sills and wings where rust started from the inside. As for road holding and luxuries, forget it. I love 7's, if I had one it would have to be the new R500. About as pure a drivers car as you can get.
RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted May 19, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 19, 2010 Nothing for me will beat the Mark III Cortina, especially the metallic green one with the bum burning vinyl seats that my parents owned: Yes she was rusty and had grass growing in the top of the wing(!) the radio was iffy, the petrol tank retaining strap one day had to be tied back on with bailer twine until we got it to Rowes garage and the offside passenger rear door handle did not work (oddly the same happened to the previous Cortina my parents owned as well) but it had a sweet as a nut 1.6 litre engine that was coupled to a hand tuned racing gearbox we bought for a tenner and would (and indeed on one occasion did when my dad failed to notice the speedo was stuffed) pull nearly a ton. Apparently after parting with it part ex for a lemon of a Mk V estate someone did some restoration work on it and it maybe still be about, if so I would be very tempted to get the old girl back.
