My crew has arrived and I think, at a normal viewing distance, they look OK.

They're now waiting for the shed foreman to find them a Manor to crew.😄

Mine were here first... tell them to get in the queue! 😀

@Accurascale FranLooks very nice indeed! Agree with the other comments - the matt paint is rather good.

Two (not terribly serious) questions regarding the content on the web site:

  • The project status still says expected Q2 2023, or "this coming Friday" as it's more commonly known at the moment. Should we assume that's just a tad optimistic? If so, when's the date when we'll actually have these in boxes on our doorsteps?
  • What does the "directional lighting" in the Lighting & DCC section of the product pages refer to? I'm now imagining some sort of Flying Scotsman USA Tour lamp, or even a Hornby Harry Potter style LED on the front.

Hi @BroadLeaves,

Many thanks for that. In answer to your question; yes, Q2 as in 2 days away is optimistic, but the wait is not too much longer than that. We will have a firm date by the end of this week when they take to the air.

There is no directional lighting, just firebox flicker.

Cheers!

Looks stunning. Really looking forward to 7808 arriving.

Out of curiosity what is the lever on the fireman's side up against the front cab sheet?

I suspect it's for something which isn't on 7808 afaik but can be found on another preserved engine.

I hope it is decoder controlled and not via an onboard chip like Dapol's pathetic version on it's 43XX

For the grate?

My man in the know says it the rocking grate lever. Stored as shown. The linkage is down by the firehole door.

The flicker is decoder controlled. It activates in sync with the coal shovelling.

And was not a GWR/BR feature?
