They've got the jumper cable sockets beneath the windscreens and the fairing below the buffer beam which I always thought indicated the Lightweight Met-Camms, numbered in the E79xxx series. You are correct !! I was not seeing the below-bufferbeam fairing as it is freshly painted black; when dirty, it's much more apparent. CJI.

I agree; I had to look several times to convince myself it was there. As you say, they are usually much more apparent. I don't think I've seen a colour picture of a clean one before; going by what I've seen in B&W photos I would have thought the fairing was painted green, but it may just have been dirty in those pictures and appeared to be the same tone as the green bodywork. It's a lovey photo, anyway!
RMweb Gold russ p Posted February 20 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 20 Unusual that jumper sockets are green and valance is black They weren't lightweight as in Derby just the same as what became class 101 but with a different control system I wish someone would do an RTR version but can't see it. No Bachmann 101s have had right front end or livery for a conversion

Not heard that before Steve. In early 2000s I bought a real 101 for NNR (They paid!) With the purpose of making a 79xxx replica. There were a few differences, biggest being smaller brake van but windscreens never came up. After I left it became just a 101 but it may happen yet Weird thing was the 101 actually had a door tread from a 79xxx Edited February 20 by russ p
