Was that the GWR telegraphic code for a brick wagon?

NO, no.

Everybody knows it was, "Tango". The GNR complained  (the would, wouldn't they) and said, "it could lead to confusion".

Tango was actually the standard code word for  -

'Leave granted provided you can make satisfactory arrangements without incurring any additional expense.  Advise all concerned'

Which might explain why the LNER was worried about confusion in case men booked out on one thought they were headed for a day off!

Just ordered some of the original and loads. Are they all shipped from Canada?

I thought they had a UK based 3rd party logistics company doing the shipping to customers, but maybe not any more

Frpm my recollection of the real pallets, the securing bands will need to be picked out in metallic steel.

Here's my three Palbricks refinished.

Palbricks

I used Tamiya NATO Brown airbrushed over Halfords grey primer.

Palbricks

A coat of Halfords satin lacquer was then applied ready from the excellent Cambridge Custom Transfers decals by John Isherwood of this parish.

Palbricks

The transfer sets are ready made up and just need carefully cutting out from their sheet with a sharp scalpel. Johnson's Kleer floor polish helped to set them in position.

Once dry a further coat of Halfords rattle can lacquer helped to seal them.

Palbricks

They are now ready for weathering..

Excellent service from John as always. The Cambrian Shark ballast brake van just in shot also has Cambridge Custom Transfers applied in the same manner.

Cheers,

Mark

Has anyone dismantled one of the full body models yet?

Hi Steve,

There's two small crosshead screws underneath which separate the chassis from the body.

The chassis has some weight on it by the way.

Hope that helps

Cheers,

Mark

My sets of each type are here (From Rails).  Beautiful wagons full of character. But not only are they unsuitable for children under 14 years, they are unsuitable for fumble fingered old men (me). I use Kadee couplers, and the KR tension locks need a lot of force to remove. I spent a lot of time crawling around the floor to find a missing buffer dislodged in the process, and the triangular bulkhead braces fell out of several of the open sided wagons.  I finished up cutting off the ends of the tension lock NEM 362 fishtails to get them out without breaking something in the removal - there are a lot of fragile bits.

I'm tempted to get some of these, I have only heard good things about KR wagons between this thread and the Consett ore tippers one. I'm a bit odd though, as in I would probably 100% get a pack if I knew it had those odd pink wheels, I quite like product oddities like that!

We're these used in Southern Region for bricks produced there does anybody know ?

I think the Palbricks carried two major flows:-

House bricks from the London Brick sites at Fletton and Calvert mainly to the London area.

Refractory bricks from various, widely scattered, specialist manufacturers. These would be for furnace, ladle and other linings.

Are they coming from Canada,  I'm not greatly impressed and will be even less if I get stung for import duty

For the record my brick loads arrived. I am not an expert on 3D printing but they appear to be rather low grade 3D prints, with as much striation as intended detail. So not very realistic - I will have to cover them with a Tarpaulin and use them as 'covered loads' in something else.

Perhaps someone else will produce a better version.

Credit where credit is due.  I received excellent  customer  service from KR Models. I informed them that I was missing one staunchion from one of my Palbrick wagons and I requested  a replacement.   I was expecting an envelope  with a spare staunchion, but instead KR Models sent another complete  wagon.

Many thanks  KR MODELS.
