Closure of Eileens Emporium

It is indeed a blow to those who build their own models, either from kits or by scratch building.

However, there are at least two other traders who supply comparable tools, materials, etc. although they may not have the high profile that Eileeenss Emporium has enjoyed, since Eileen and Jim Pitchforth started the business decades ago.

Very sad news for both the owners and staff especially in these troubled times.  As said, sad news for modellers but I expect its very much worse for those working in the business. Thanks for what you all  have done in the past, its much appreciated and all the best for the future

This is a sad time for Eileen's Emporium. They were the first place went to at exhibitions when i needed supplies. The whole modelling family will solely miss you, you have been around ever since i started modelling.

Commiserations to you all. I will miss you.

That is sad news, especially bearing in mind the huge range of products that were available and not easy to source.

My best wishes to Derek and his family at what must be a difficult time.

I did visit Phil Atkinson of Hobby Holidays (one of the "alternative suppliers") about a week ago to pick up some supplies as he lives close by and he has now been to his last show and was talking about the future of his business, which he has been trying to sell for a while.

He was talking about possibly reducing his product range considerably and running a smaller internet/mail order only business.

So that is another specialist trader we sadly won't see at shows any more.

Extremely sad to hear this, Eileen’s in its successive guises has been a feature of many of the shows I’ve frequented for many years and it’ll be much missed.

Buying habits have changed, the constraints placed on physical retailers since 2020 have spurred that change, many of the specialist tools and materials which Eileen’s had become  the “go to” place for could be obtained elsewhere on-line, I’d guess another chunk of an already declining audience was lost in that time.

An extremely stressful time for any business owner, thoughts are with you and thanks for all your efforts since taking Eileen’s on.

I'm really saddened to hear that the business has gone down Derek. Eileen's was my first choice for many of the materials I supply with my kits. It will be hard to find another supplier as reliable as yours.

We are deeply saddened to hear this news Derek, we never like to hear of a fellow trader ceasing to trade. A great loss to the modelling world. I will miss our chats at exhibitions. You will be sadly missed at Leigh Exhibition. We wish you and your family well.

Best wishes

Andy

So very sorry to hear of the demise of a business local to me, has been my go to for basic modelling materials and tools.

@Derek Russan you will be sorely missed. Thank you for all you have supplied and I hope you and your staff have pathways forwards at this difficult time. You will be missed….
