Thanks for the suggestions about the hessian bag, it was not in his car but there were a few CDs. I have found a photo of the bag which was on his computer, so here it is.

I will be at Doncaster on Saturday if anyone wants a chat, I'm not so easily recognised as Chris but if I remember I'll wear my RMWeb badge, if I can find it.

  • 2 weeks later...

I will not be able to attend, unfortunately, but I will be thinking of him.

I was introduced to Chris by Alan West, on one of his regular visits to Alan's

place, where he worked on his fine scale layout (co-owned with Timara Easter)

and housed in Alan's shed.

It was always a pleasure to meet Chris at various events, where we we would

catch up on various subjects, I'll miss his knowledge and his outlook on life.

I hope it all goes well.

Chris was aware that I am on walkabout.. I am sure all of the drivellers will raise a glass to him later today.

A very noticeably missed "absent" friend.

I shall raise a glass after completing my shift at the House of Fun.

For those able to be present and for all of Chris’s family and friends my thoughts will be with you all.

My thoughts today will be with Chris, his family and friends - of which the latter I am pleased to be considered myself as one.

.

Chris and I were in occasional  contact, and met up many times over the years.

.

I remember a long personal discussion with Chris at Taunton, and how it appeared a weight had been taken from his shoulders; the result being a far more 'at ease' Chris.

.

His railway knowledge was boundless, and I still smile recalling an incident during a South Wales RCTS 'Alan Jarvis Slide Show' where Chris' added information left us all open mouthed.

.

I have a  bottle of BrAIns 'Reverend James' set aside for this evening, when my toast will be 'Chris'

.

So long Chris !

I'll raise a glass to Chris this evening. A lovely chap and always a pleasure to see and talk to.

Finally, he will be able to rest in peace..

Many thanks, Alan,  for that summary of what seems to have been  a most appropriate farewell.

Rob.

I hope that the RCTS was called by his usual description of " The Royal Corps of Trainspotters".  Thanks very much for the summary. The music all seems to have been most appropriate.

Thank you very much Alan for reporting upon Chris's funeral.

After the sad way in which he ended, and the transient nature of online "friendships", it is very heartening to hear of so many people actually turning up at his funeral.

I would like to have gone but in the end distance and "stuff" got in the way, as it so often does.

Which is no excuse really.

RIP Chris - you are missed.
