I can't see Sonic Models as a manufacturer - already produced one N wagon, one loco and a new OO one is on the boat somewhere another two N locos apparently in production

Fair enough; I'd overlooked that (not that they communicate directly with press and leave it to one retailer).

Interesting exercise. As I am sure will be the responses.

A few “best fit” ticks from me as would be expected. And a true indication of the collection size as this is anonymous; I never discuss that in detail in the public domain.

Done.  Interesting.  Thanks. 👍

Obviously some of the members would wish you had done a survey about the survey, in advance.

And then another survey, about the survey about the survey.

But eh, people 🙃

Happy to skew the results as usual :)

I did actually "ruin" a friend's dissertation once by being a statistical anomaly. Picture a nice neat graph, with mount everest right in the middle 😇

If you put enough statistical anomolies together you get a distribution.  I've joined the curve too.

Done,

don't suppose there will be too many with only 2 coaches and 40 odd wagons .......

Any modeller of North American Railroads from the 1970s onwards - my US HO collection is exactly 1 passenger car (a mail / baggage car) and 42 freight cars.

I managed 5 coaches* and about 200 wagons...

*none of which are capable of being run anywhere though.

Very good, thank you.  As @Peter Kazmierczak noted, a nice diversion for a Monday.  A good range of questions which will hopefully give some interesting results once processed.

A survey can't capture everything.  One thing I don't think was covered in this particular survey was membership of specialist societies as distinct from Clubs (I ticked "Yes" to Club membership to cover this, which I hope was OK).  I know I very much value the Society I belong to and enjoy our gatherings, but it is quite different to the Club near where I work, who have premises to maintain and multiple layout projects to fund and build.

(To be clear - my comment above on Clubs and Societies is not intended as a negative observation for this particular survey, but is simply intended to offer additional information for the accompanying conversation.  I hope that’s OK).

Just a thought, Keith.

True - although I really was an anomaly. I'm not known for being particularly healthy, and my friend was doing her dissertation on recovery times after heavy exercise comparting athletes to non-active people.

The instructions were to get an initial reading of whatever, then get on an exercise bike, pedal to exhaustion then they would take readings every few minutes until it was back to the baseline.

So I did exactly that, I nearly passed out getting off the bike. I think an ambulance was mentioned at one point. There was nice cluster of unfit people not cycling for long, then taking ages to recover, another nice cluster of fit people cycling for ages and not taking long to recover. And me, cycling for ages then taking over an hour to recover. She was going to leave me out but her professor said I would make an interesting case study 😄

Wait until I get to pivot tables but I'm sure there'll be someone with 40 locos and 2 wagons.

For the question "How much time do you spend on RMweb?" there is no 'Too much' button ... 😉

I think AY Mod has a pretty good idea about how much time we spent online already....

Demu forum has a thing where you can see who has spent the most time online, does RMweb have it too?

There is a plugin for it available but I would think it invasive to know (it'd probably be me) so I've never installed it. It's probably theoretically possible to tell from the back end data but I'd definitely be up for something that could limit the amount of time particular people spend on here. ;)

Maybe some of us could do with the that too. A pop up that says "You've just wasted two hours on RMweb, go and do some modelling instead"

Submitted, but not all of the answers are accurate. I have added a few comments below, which I hope are helpful.

What time period are you interested in modelling? All of the answers were UK, but I do not model UK, so none of the answers are relevant. I have answered, but these are based on the time period. Probably best to trim off the UK from the answers, they add nothing - other questions state the geography of your modelling.

What brands of stock do you buy? My answer is none of them from the list, I buy from a multitude of manufactures not on the list - Roco, Kato, Tomix, Piko etc. Perhaps an overseas manufacturer option (even if it is just an option of 'Overseas') may give a better answer-set. My selection of None may be a bit misleading, as that implies I scratchbuild my stock - I don't.

How frequently do you buy magazines? The answer set does not match the question. The question is around frequency - monthly, once in a while etc,. The answer-set is more about the format and method of consumption .

Where do you get the latest news? I get it from a number of sources...you can only pick one answer here.
