the great electric train show is on the 14/15 October and will have making tracks in all of its format. Also a good choice of traders and layouts. On the Saturday they say park at mk bowl and there will be a free shuttle bus as mk dons are at home.

cheers Craig

I'd like to visit this year, industrial action has kept me away.

Seeing as they're still announcing action for October I guess I will have to make a late decision on attendance.

Stafford and Warley I will drive to, but Milton Keynes is a bit of a long journey to make for me by car as a one day trip.

Always worth a visit and I especially enjoy the chat with the guys at Accurascale at a quieter show , rather than the usual Warley. I go by train and get the free shuttle bus.

I've got into the habit of walking to the venue from Bletchley, it takes about half an hour but avoids any bus unpredictability. I managed it last year even though there was an RMT strike as there was a half hour service from Euston, with plenty of space.

I'll be there all weekend, up on the balcony (so should have a great view of the rest of the show!). Looks like it should be a great weekend.

I was a little surprised however when I saw the layout list that there isn't a single O gauge layout there...

Let’s hope the lifts to the upper floors are working this year!

I remember that last year both lifts in the arena area were out of order, which resulted in either a long escorted trek to the lift in the Stadium, probably not an option this year, or those who had mobility issues missed out seeing those exhibits on these floors.

I remember that. It was a pain and, as you point out, you won't be able to get there via the football stadium this year.

Whilst the 'other' WCML layout looks mighty fine, is an accomplishment and no doubt raises funds for Chester Cathedral, I'd much rather be watching trains banked up Shap.

Maybe there will be more space to spread out to watch Shap if everyone else is looking at t'other one.

It's not size that matters....

Totally agree.  I think I will be spending a long time on Saturday at Shap!

Have any traders (or exhibitors) received a list of stand numbers and/or a copy of the plan? I know I'm going to be on the balcony, but other than that I've not got a clue.

I suppose I should have thought about it before now & emailed them, but it's been a busy week...

Hello all,

Revolution Trains will be there as usual, with some new samples to show and of course ready to chat to all about new projects, existing ones and listen to feedback and suggestions.

Those who have already contacted us can also collect their new Class 128 parcels units and Avanti/Virgin Pride Pendolinos.

cheers

Ben A.

How many vintage buses have they got? Not sure how they'll get everyone from the free car park to the venue at 10am as this is likely to be a very busy show....

Can you park elsewhere nearby and walk to the venue?

Probably there really isn`t any, not unless to are prepared for a long walk, as I would imagine that the MK Council would have already put restrictions in place to prevent the Football Supporters from parking there. That’s the reason the decision was made to build the Stadium in that location.

My main concern is not getting to the venue and parking in the National Bowl car park in the morning, but trying to get back to the car park before the 3pm kick off, to drive home, when the hoards of Football Supporters are coming the other way and trying to park in the Stadium car park. It’s a pity that this exhibition is not being held either the week before or after, every other year, so not to clash with the football match. So this year it’s going to be a Sunday visit for me.

Can't make it this year but remembering the 2015 show at the British Motor museum - I finished doing a COSS shift for a track survey job at Whitacre Junction that morning and then drove to the venue, slept in the car park for a few hours - visited the show & the wonderful car exhibits then drove back home to Wiltshire afterwards - that was a long day - the things we do ! 🙄

Yes, the whole thing seems a bit of a cock-up. With Pete Waterman's layout, this is the most anticipated event of the year yet there is nowhere to park nearby and it is very doubtful a vintage bus service will be able to cope with the numbers who want to attend. (And not everyone can walk -the average age of modellers is probably over 60 these days!)

Even when there is no football it's a battle with weekend shoppers to get to and from the venue. Maybe they should look to the NEC next year if they want to put on a major national event?
