I’m pretty sure Rob was wearing a shirt that looked like this last year.
Also it’s not far off the Middleton Top backscene at the moment.

Once again this very special event is shaping up to be even better than the last one, what lucky folk we are to have this gathering once a year and not once in a lifetime! Alongside all the exhibits, demonstrations, fine food and hot drinks there lurks the famous BRING AND BUY sale where you happy punters have the opportunity to pick up that particular modelling treasure that somehow you managed to miss first time round but now jumps out at you, and at a very reasonable price.

Of course these little treasures do not come to Taunton unless you decide to bring them. So now is the time to dig through your boxes, cupboards, storage rooms and  vaults, and collect together those really good items that you no longer need but clutter up your environment and could be fully loved and appreciated in a new home.

After helping on the BRING AND BUY STALL  at SWAG for two years I have come to realise that there is no rhyme or reason as to why some things sell, whilst other things do not, life is indeed a gamble. But you never know, absolutely any good item that you bring may very well, at the right price be turned into hard cash to further feed your new modelling desires. So don't hold back, fill the car with all those kits, books and models that you no longer need and bring them to Taunton and experience the delight that a good bit of retail therapy can bring.

We will sell any good items you bring and a paltry 10% of the sale price will go to supporting SWAG 25 and any excess will be donated to charity.

Please come with your items marked and priced and the completed form attached. We will be accepting cash but there will also be card payments available. Keeping the prices simple would be most appreciated by the sales team, maths no longer a strong point, and please make sure you comply with the details on the form which have been designed to be a simple as possible.

Please do not hesitate to do some advertising of items here you may wish to bring, nothing like free marketing to increase sales.

If you have any questions do please PM me, but most importantly download the SWAG BRING AND BUY form attached and complete your listing. You could come away from Taunton a much richer/happier modeller!

Looking forward to seeing you at SWAG '24!

all the very best

Godfrey

Sounds like a good idea, smaller the cup, higher the pirce:

N gauge tea: £1.50

OO Gauge tea: 75p

I think I'll settle for an O gauge cuppa!

Morning all,

In what appears to be our last ( but by no means least)  layout featurette we come to Ruyton Road, now in the care of Paul Bannerman who has sympathetically recommissioned and refurbished this seminal cameo layout.

RailWells(1).jpeg.63dbba53384c575cc02bd7ef4053f516.jpeg.jpg.84ded6818ef7f2192682988d6de8ba6b.jpg

It was built by the late John Spencer to EM gauge and appeared at a number of shows in the 1990’s and the early years of the new century. This layout also featured in MRJ, issues 75 ( 1994 ) and 170 ( 2006 ).

Once in Paul's care, Ruyton was converted to P4 but the layout maintains the original premise, that of the terminus of  an imaginary branch from the Shropshire and Montgomeryshire Railway between Kinnerley Junction and Ruyton Town with a stub serving a nearby quarry.

Always difficult to upgrade an old layout, Ruyton being some 30yrs old, but fair to say Paul has managed this quite successfully and at the same time, preserved John's original aim of giving exhibition visitors not only a flavour of a Colonel Stephens light railway line in the 1920’s but that of one of the first finescale Cameo layouts.

If you bring a 'true' 00 scale mug I will fill it for 75 new pence, but you will need to mind your fingers as I don't have an 00 scale teapot

Which brings me nicely onto.....

If visitors could bring a mug with them then it will help out the Crack Catering Team by reducing the periodic bouts of washing up throughout the day leaving them free for more important tasks such as cutting cake and warming pasties.

I thank ewe.

There are the makings here for a poster competition.  Winner buys the pasties?

Don't you mean 'winner eats the pasties?'

(and gets free cake!!)

Morning all,

This morning we highlight the last of our demonstrators, Stu Hilton aka your own, your very own @Stubby47

Stu is a fixture at SWAG and no members day is complete without him. To locate him within the hall, just follow the trail of chocolate cake crumbs to his table.

If you have a need for a bespoke build then Stu is your man. He can obviously be chatted to on the day or contacted via the internet....

Here are a few examples of his trade.

Sit down and have a chat because that's what he's there for.

Oh and as if I'd forget............

As Gwen tells us, 7, YES, 7 days to go. In fact the hall will be a veritable hive of activity with multiple erections as layouts are placed in accordance with the carefully conceived floor plan.

Which reminds me...........
