Another shuttle service from East brings our lovely little J15 again.

The J15 is resting at Platform 6.

A real cute loco, nearly on par with a MR class 2 goods engine.

The B1 has rattled its way through, and soon afterwards the White Rose comes into view, with Grantham A3 Enterprise. First seen under the bridge, and then under the roof.

Morning Gilbert

Your last photo of A3 60111 looks as though it actually has working lamps?

Trick of the light David!

Hi Gilbert

Better image  than any photoshopping could do, I really thought for one moment you had wired up the lamps, which would have been some improvement considering their size.

Regards

David

Hi Gilbert

Have been enjoying the Saturday timetable shots.  With the J11 and the artic stock behind the tender, is that unusual for such a train?  Would you happen to know what diagram that set is as I am wondering if it is something I may be able to justify running through Wakefield.

Cheers

Tony

Hi Tony

The set is to Dia 194/5, with a Dia 190 composite. The composites were largely replaced after the war by 61ft 6 cars, but I decided that if there was anywhere that might still have a short CK in the late 50s it would be the E.Lincs. These sets were originally built for service on ECML stopping services from KX to Peterborough, and were still being so used in 1958. They were also used on the E.Lincs for may years. Whether they would have got to Wakefield I do not know.

However, between 1939 and 1942 further sets were built to Dia 304, and those had a 61ft 6 CK to Dia 305. They were for cross country services and for GC section trains on the Manchester-Cleethorpes route, which they continued to work into the 50s. However, after that they were apparently used in relief main line trains, so you might be more able to justify one of those sets.

As to the J11, they were powerful little beasts, and quite capable of dealing with a set like this on Peterborough-Grimsby services which stopped almost everywhere.

Something different this morning, but whether it works or not, you will have to judge. Possibly taken from the top floor of a building a little further along Cowgate?  Last night's B1 is seen first, followed by the Norseman with a 52A A1.

I absolutely love those shots, Gilbert - the 'each a glimpse.....' effect.

Perhaps my favourite ever of your PN.
