Popular Post AndrewC
Daktari: thanks for the pulled pork recipe. Generally I do my own rubs but some of the Traeger ones are amazing. Pigs ass or Bad Byron too. I sub maple sugar for Demerara when making rubs. Never done a shoulder in the oven. Normally the pork goes in the Kamado with Apple wood for smoke. We spent a bloody fortune on the kitchen with a beautiful Rangemaster. 90% of what I cook is one one or more of my Kamados or the old Weber Genesis. Should have skipped the cooker and put in a bigger beer fridge. In the heading of vest laid plans. I had a length of cat-6 I grabbed from Maplin when They were closing. Pulled through the conduit from hard to house. 20cm too short. Going to have to put a junction outside. Buqqer. One of the reasons that Germany has a low mortality rate for the disease (above and beyond their excellent medical system) is their mass testing programme. Of course you are going to have a high mortality rate if you only test people who are ill enough to present for treatment. Which is what makes me conclude that the top people at PHE in their decision not to allow for other labs and methodologies to test for the virus were - at the very least - unwise. iD I watched the interview with Linda Lusardi (she's LOVELY) yesterday on the 'net - both she and her husband have had the Big V; Linda had it very badly, requiring ITU (not sure about her husband - though he required hospitalisation also). It seems Linda was very ill on admission, yet still produced a negative test result - a second test the following day was positive. My next-door-neighbour is NHS, and has friends working at the North Middlesex Hospital; it seems that they have all but stopped testing there as the test just cannot be relied upon. As they say, the only thing worse than no test is an unreliable test. The best indicator is to go by symptoms IMHO. 8

RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted April 11, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 11, 2020 yesterday on our weekly walk we took a different route back. Some one has an armoured vehicle on their drive. I was tempted to take a photo on my phone but mindful that any photos posted on the forum will invoke someone not being happy that we should only be out for exercise, not stopping for even a quick photo - what a situation that we are now effectively a police state in these times. Back from shed for a quick lunch and now heading back to the shed where we shall open the beer, at least that's something we enjoy that we are still allowed to do - for now. 1

A one time boss was working on the automotive side of the design. Guess what one of his cars was? Well knock me down with a feather! An E Type! At 4 Tons it was very light, very quick (over a 100kph) and was made from Aluminiun. Now reengined with a diesel engine. Still as quick apparently! Baz I seem to recall some years ago we had one at MVEE with the turret removed and fitted with a V8 lump from a Buick. The thing was tuned up somewhat and would out accelerate the test engineers car. No doubt caused a few second glances as it travelled faster on the test track than the cars on the M3 that ran parallel! RMweb Premium Popular Post 45156 Posted April 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 11, 2020 (edited) Afternoon All At last my Internet speed seems to have crept up a bit - it is Saturday, it is a stay at home hoiday weekend, it is a nice day, so perhaps there's not so many home workers and kids on there this afternoon. Ah music - it is one of the things keeping me sane at the moment - my tastes do vary a great deal - I still like the Beatles, Bee Gees, Abba (never did when they were current - my late father was the one to point out that the music was brilliantly composed), and most of the 60s stalwarts who were played on Radio Caroline and Radio Scotland, and I have masses of 60s compilation albums, most of which are the original performances - not those dreadful remake albums most of which are carp. Pink Floyd, whom I helped to set up their gear at Strathclyde uni, then hung out with the band and got a free admision to the gig. Yes in their early pre Wakeman personnel IMHO much better, Fleetwood Mac, Ten Years After, Blodwyn Pig, Stone The Crows, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple - were all seen live in the VERY early 70s. Jazz, Folk (as Chrisf knows), just about the only C&W artiste that I like is the late Chester Burton Atkins - who was one of the greatest guitar pickers of all time - and was very influential indeed. It does help that I have a pretty good Hi Fi system mainly Arcam front ends and amps, with some pretty good B&W speakers and an amazing pair of Sennheiser headphones. And nowadays with YouTube, I follow some extremely good up and coming musicians, like Josh Turner, and also an amazing band called Foxes and Fossils. Well, now generic greetings are, of course on offer, and I'm pleased that we seem to have a pretty full house of the regular ERs here. Keep healthy, and stay at home as ordered - if only some of the other idiots out there could do the same, we'd get over this one a lot quicker. So what's been happening chez 45156/30747 - well not a lot. Went down to the pharmacy and Co-op today, but my prescription cannot be filled due to a shortage of the drug that I need - should be in Monday as they found an alternative supplier for it, and they have it in stock. Then back via the local convienience store, where they are still selling Westons VIntage (8.4%) at a fiver for three. The jigsaws and things are still gong well, and we found a really nice thank you card on our mat from someody who must live nearby. We ony have two jigsaws left, and have given away about 16 now,s ome kids games which are going well also, and books, We are still lighting our tree in the front avery night for the key workers. Hopefully back tomorrow Regards to All Stewart Edited April 11, 2020 by 45156 19

tigerburnie
I really didn't like Hiwatt amps and though Charlie Watkins was a lovely man, WEM made better pa speakers than guitar ones, alright until you put a mic in front of them and tried to put them through a pa mixer desk, white noise was pleasant by comparison. Turn of the 60's into the 70's anything American with JBL speakers were way ahead of the rest of the market, for you Bass players Accoustic or Ampeg were the dogs danglies back then. If I could get a guitarist to try to understand simple logistics(which I rarely did), a small Fender amp with a big Shure mic in front of it and a couple of thousand watts of decent pa was better, clearer and louder that any stack ever built...…………………..including Marshalls 12
