RMweb Premium newbryford Posted July 31, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 31, 2014 I may have to alter my travel plans to M66/M62/M6/Warrington/M6/M1/A43 rather than M66/M62/M1/A43 tomorrow................ Cheers, Mick

Baby Deltic
Very sad. With all these 'baboon's landing, the class 47's will probably head for the scrap heap.
RMweb Gold Corbs Posted August 1, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 1, 2014 They've had a pretty good run, though. The 68s put me in mind of a modern take on the class 22 baby warships.
Baby Deltic
I have to admit they sound pretty impressive, but nowhere near as good as a '47, mind.
Cornish Triang Paul
With the new regs coming in and the lack of new designs compatible, would the 47s really go for scrap or be sold for future use.......... ??

If true, and she heads the Saturday GA drag, I shall kick myself as I am away this weekend! Saturday GA DRAG..??????? Seems if the other forum lies! Sorry! I cannot find any path on realtraintimes today from Crewe to Norwich! But there is a run to Wembley happening as we speak: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R01134/2014/08/01/advanced This stops enroute at Willesden, there is then a path from Willesden to Norwich...:http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R01135/2014/08/01/advanced I really hope its not! As I wont be here to see it! With the new regs coming in and the lack of new designs compatible, would the 47s really go for scrap or be sold for future use.......... ?? I understand from DRS they are aware of the demand in the market for their 47s, though they wont be used, they wont be letting the competition have them! It is possible that the likes of West Coast may take on 47802/832. Saturday GA DRAG..??????? GA - Greater Anglia. DRS currently have a few passenger jobs for them. Satan's Goldfish
Better not, i've left the family in Norfolk and come back down south to work. I'll miss it if that happens on Saturday! Although if it stays at Norwich on thunderbird i will be hunting it down when i come back to pick them up after shift.

Cheers, Mick There does seem to be some talk of a swap between DRS & WCRC coming up - 47s to WCRC and the non ETH 57/0S over to DRS. Whether or not anything like that will happen as we know this is the railways, but 47802 has lost it's 'Pride of Cumbria' nameplates over to ex NR 57310 already. But I think DRS's plan for these is predominantly mixed traffic, while retaining some 47s for areas where the 68s cant go / work railtours etc.
mpb56125
57012 hauled 68009, 68010 & 68012 from Liverpool Docks to Gresty Bridge this morning. http://www.mark5812.smugmug.com/Trains2014/August-2014 Mark http://www.mark5812.smugmug.com
RMweb Gold big jim Posted August 1, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 1, 2014 Juat walked past gresty bridge on my way back from basford hall and you can just about see the silver 68s from the road tucked away next to the shed, not clear enough for a photo or to see the numbers though, 68008 is poking out of the shed though

Two class 68s did leave Crewe for Wembley early this morning, one later continuing to Norwich. Unfortunately it left Willesden two hours early, catching out me and quite a few others hoping to see it pass through North London, Stratford and Essex. Apparently failed at Ipswich.... Luke Piewalker
Is there a particular design reason why they all seem to have lots of frame but not much window? I don't mind them myself, but think they'd look better with more window...
