EBay madness

I believe BR sold off old bodies in the sixties for 25/- a foot*, so something like this would have sold for around £20. Allowing for inflation that makes about £400, which this sold for. The difference is the condition of course - this is only fit for scrap.

*I got this figure from somewhere - it might not be correct, but would seem reasonable.

Why do people insist on inane drivel about the real thing, which has nothing to do with the model being sold?!  Especially when they then mention nothing about the actual model!

What could they usefully say about the model that is not covered by the picture? Worth a thousand words you know.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-by-meccano-ltd-pre-war-/281247890228?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item417bae3b34

Hornby by meccano ltd, all metal, pre war.

E45402E

Silver windows

A bit dirty, otherwise fine.

Pre 1st gulf war possibly

Dates from 1953-55* so pre Vietnam war**.

Since when does "fine" allow faded?. It should be BR Crimson, not Barbie Pink!

* The last ones had BR bogies not Gresley.

** Other minor conflicts are available - Suez etc.

Anyone bored with OO? Thought about scaling up? Maybe this is a start:

Note: Listed as Used. Do Markits offer full scale wheels? :jester:

Just discovered today that someone actually bought it! It would be nice to see it restored, but there looks like a hell of a lot of work between then and now.

Well, the "Garden seat" wheels could do!...

Being the same scale as the van body...

OK, they are Roller Bearings...but..... :)

Just an underframe, buffers, etc. and another set of wheels needed...

And couplings of your choice! :)

Really it needs new floor, sides, doors, roof and framing too! :jester:
