Wonder what possessed someone to decide that it was a good idea to commission this hideous object?

Looking at some of his other stuff, you may have stumbled upon a cheaper version of Gostude/Cartmel

Cheers,

Mick

You could always put it out of its misery and paint it.

I'm not surprised! (Ignoring the eccentric spelling).  :O

The seller has this horror as well which deserves the same (but not at this price!)

Well it is in Germany, but only posts to UK !

Hi

This chap is not in Germany, but based in the UK ,he has nothing to sell but just puts up photo's of what he say he has, that's why it takes so long to get to you.

All he do's is list stuff and if he sells it ,he looks around to where he can buy it from then sends it to you,if you look at his feed back you can work out the way he works, bit of a con artiest .

Another "price it high because we're out of stock"

Cheers,

mick

The only reason I picked up on it was because I bought one back in 2012, but put it in my watch list just in case I wanted to buy any more (think it was about £8 originally). I completely forgot about it, and then the other day I was having a clear out, and found the price set at that, so its probably (as you say) likely that they are out of stock and awaiting more.

Still, its a good bag, ideal if you're stupid enough to have bought a 17 inch laptop without measuring the bag you already had first to make sure it would fit!

I'm struggling to see why each of these are priced differently:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-MODEL-R-446-GWR-3rd-CLASS-4-WHEEL-COACH-WITH-STEEL-WHEELS-/400653911624?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item5d48d58648

Why does having black wheels demand an extra £2? Either way, he's got the decimal point in the wrong place with all of them!

EDIT: He appears to be flooding eBay with similar items, eg:

He is a regular that pops every now and then. It a great way of free advertising for him on this forum. I personal think it stopped. IMHO

The same bidder's doing it again after paying £110 for that last one. Clearly he wants them at any cost....

This time he has come up against the clearest bit of Shill bidding I have seen for ages.  Look at the bid retraction (to find out how much he has bid) followed by a bid of 1p less than that amount 10 seconds later.

Anyone know how to report this seller?

9 bid retractions in last 6 months.  There's no way of knowing whether the retractions were on model railway items or not.  If they are, he's only bid on 12 model railway related items in last 6 months.

Yes very interesting. On this Portescap I cannot see any reason to place a bid, retract it once he has seen what he was up against, then immediately put another bid in at 1p less that the guy he was up against had bid, if it was not a to drive up the other bidder. Now I know some people bid for fun just to push up the other bidder (at their peril!) but to make it as blatant as this is bizairre especially as he has good feedback to risk!

I guess this is inverted madness if there were such a thing.  One of our usual suspects who puts high prices on things has started this at 99p

I'm not an expert on Triang but I believe this is quite collectable even in this state as you can get transfers and then you'd need to source a pantograph.  Clean it up and hey presto:
