EBay madness

I'm probably being dim, or displaying some hitherto unacknowledged lack of taste, but I thought that was a rather lovely model!

Is it?  Looks in good condition and while it's over my budget it doesn't seem to be the usual silly price stuff goes for from that vendor!

Again my lack of taste/knowledge showing.  I thought that was rather well done.  It hasn't been attacked with a soldering iron, had a tin of orange paint poured over it, and been left out as a seagull's convenience before having one axle removed & being dumped on an old Triang flat-wagon.

Fabulous!  I've found my Mother's next birthday present...

....and... there are bids on it :O

Who on this good earth would want such a monstrosity? :scratchhead:

I thought we'd discussed above how some of these pieces have a certain whimsical value being made in one of the previous ages of austerity!

Who will pay £5.99 for these and then £2.99 P&P on top.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-PACKS-OF-COOPER-CRAFT-MODEL-RAILWAYS-OO-HO-GAUGE-EIGHT-SPOKE-WHEEL-SETS-/151214639457?ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:3160  :nono: Cheaper to buy good metal tyres ones.

To think how many sets of wheels I've thrown out when building Ratio kits & the like!

Anyone bored with OO? Thought about scaling up? Maybe this is a start:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/railway-carriage-Genuine-Severn-Valley-Train-Carriage-/331105764974

Note: Listed as Used. Do Markits offer full scale wheels? :jester:

'Genuine Severn Railway carriage'. No wonder BR closed the line down!

Nah, I think it's a van - or as he puts it 'I do believe'. Flimsy evidence, methinks :scratchhead:

So why doesn't the seller get off his backside & order the display case himself & then sell it as it appears?

Edited 'Off' not "Of'.

Unopened and without the cabinet as he does not have it but locos are pictured in the cabinet.

Hardly inspires confidence.

Tough decision chaps and chapesses.  Do I bid on the Class 20, Mermaid, Turbot, Bitumen tank or Silver Bullet?  It's so difficult choosing between them.

It was a free listing weekend. Probably just getting the ad in place - easy to change a photo later. The listing does say "pictures to follow"

Cheers,

Mick

I know, but I do wonder about some of these people.  They've been listed for 2 days now on a 7 day listing.  How long does it take some of these guys to take a pic, and how long is left to actually sell when they finally amend the pic?

Maybe - with LUCK - the bidders are all folks who want to obtain it and then dutifully put it out of its misery!!!! Listing it in HORNBYOO is rather a stretch isn't it!

It's the Royal 67 again.

This one was removed due to "an error"

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111251697888?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_356wt_1305

And relisted.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111260824001?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:VRI&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2661#ht_356wt_1141

Spot the difference?

About £90!

Cheers,

Mick

And from the same seller.

Six identical items all on auction finishing within minutes of each other.

Strange way of listing! (and overpriced IMO)

I think i've seen two of these in most scrap boxes at swapmeets on a fairly regular basis, normal price £1 (if in good nick). I'm pretty sure a Schools body with numerous missing and damaged parts isn't worth in the region of £25:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Assorted-OO-Gauge-Airfix-Hornby-Lima-Steam-Diesel-Locomotive-Bodies-/171224716165?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item27ddc9d385

Have Rails changed their approach to selling recently? Seems like most items they list now are in the form of buy-it-nows, but I know from years gone by they have sold a number of items i've watched based on a starting price of 99p that have ended up going way in excess of what they should have done. Are times hard for them, or are they just after even more money for items?
