Can anyone tell me why Bachmann GW toads are going for silly money at the moment ? Its not as if they're rare is it.Bachmann might be doing a new detailed version for all I know... :declare:

In short, no! Looking at recently sold items the prices seem quite sensible. Afraid I'm not a GW specialist but was wondering if the inscription on the side was therefore making it rare®?

At last, an accurate item description. "Seen much better days" indeed...

Might be worth a tenner. To be worth the asking price, she would need the wheels and motion. Whether it's worth the restoration is another matter*. You can get a decent one for not a lot more http://www.ebay.co.u...p3286.c0.m1539. or (with a tender and the key) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-O-gauge-LNER-1842-green-locomotive-tender-collectable-/110829546319?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item19cdf4ab4f

* The missing control knobs cost a fortune for a start.

He's got some other junk too. I paid a couple of quid for one of these a few years ago in this sort of condition. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item53ebb87ae6

Another optimist! http://www.ebay.co.u...=item231a64a07c

He's got the rest of the unfortunate loco (less motor) on sale in bits as well. £30 for the whole lot, including motor, would be about right in this condition. (The ponies normally go for around £5-6, which is already expensive - new Wrenn ones are still available.)

Somone got a bit carried away here, I think. The SR coach might be worth this much in good condition (though this one isn't), but the other four are scrap. Love this - "Lovely nick except for the fading." http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c24070a16

And finally, nicely done, but I fear she will have some problems with the loading gauge.

Some people will put any old thing on eBay http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3a7119270c .

Free listing means free publicity!

Geoff Endacott

Which Charlatan put that on there ;) I have good mind to report that item, it infringes ebay rules by errr, ummm, ermm, well by something anyway, remove it this instance.......

Clever thinking Mr Endacott, I hope it gets the result it deserves, Ebayer 1 Ebay 0.

These keep popping up on Ebay, I personal feel that as it was free with the railway modeler, and the proceeds from such sales should go to a worth while charity not in the sellers pocket. :nono: :nono: :nono:

And he's only asking 99p. But this guy is asking £2.99 + £1.95 postage and yet some idiot has bid for it. For the same price,he could have got one with a Railway Modeller attached together with some change.

Terry I don't see why the seller should be obliged to give the proceeds to a worth while (sic) charity. It's his kit to do with what he pleases including selling it. He has after all paid for it as it was included in the cost of the Railway Modeller he purchased.

More likely it was posted on a free listing day but seller didn't have any stock. He jacked up the price to discourage buyers and will then drop the price when he gets some in stock.

You guys are brutal ! Thank goodness I don't sell on eBay :O :jester: :jester:

Close - I don't think free listings apply to buy it now, but he has already sold several at the normal price of £5.99, before running out of stock and jacking the price up to stop people buying. When he gets more in he will lower the price back to normal - saves him having to relist. Although in this case it looks like he is not due to get more stock for a while since he has now withdrawn the listing due to non-availability.

It does make me wonder though - the number of times this perfectly logical practice has been reported in this thread and explained and yet people still highlight it as madness...

But you still have it listed as more than 10 available even if you have sold out, that is what is odd.

Thanks Mike. It'll teach me to read properly!

You are reading it correctly John.

There are 11 sets on one fret if you check with the Mainly Trains description.

Change of subject.

The one that amazes me at the moment is the prices being asked for the new Heljan Wagon Basher.
