EBay madness

Only 93 of this model made so quite rare but not at that price.

One went at auction recently for £560.

Geoff Endacott

That's about right for a mint example. I wouldn't pay that but a serious collector might.

Almost tempted to buy this in order to remove it from circulation and put the poor thing out of its misery:

Looks like some took a dump on it!!!

It certainly could do with a good "sorting"!

But, come-on folk, it is not their fault that people bid high. (due to reputation, low postal charges, heat of the bidding) It is not like they put the starting bid up at a MRP or above - like some we have mentioned on topic. They are obviously doing something correct (perhaps god photos, fair and honest description, good packaging, prompt dispatch?) or they wouldn't be so popular.

A couple of points {Didn't mean the pun]perhaps,3 month guarantee and knowledge of the seller?

I quote;

"Interior detail and paneling is to an 'Over the Top' standard."

How insulting.

But he has not got a clue who made the Kits!  He seems to attribute all kits to D&S, OK they produced lots of LNER ones but all his LMS coaches are "probably D&S" which none of them are. Now I just wonder if that is because he believes they attract a premium price?

On a serious note just look how much 'stock' he is sitting on, his cash flow must be appauling.

The stock to turnover ratio would be far more indicative of any problem. Simply having a massive stock is in no way indicative of a poor business. If you are selling your stock at a turnover rate of about 9 days (for example) then he is doing very good business and will require good re-stocking to maintain that level of cash flow. Meanwhile a high stock turnover and healthy stock level to support it could well be used as a strong investment asset.

Although his business is often - justifiably - complained about on here, not every item seems to be sitting around for months unsold like the Gaiety pannier. One only has to presume that the over-pricing model is still finding customers willing, presumably happy, or simply ignorant, to part with cash.

[Ed] strange posting double-up??!

He obviously doesn't know the builder's name either.  DEREK Lawrence who would be choking on his 'roll up' if he could see this

That's why it's so rare and expensive, Derek's younger brother David was nowhere near as prolific a coach builder as his elder sibling.

This could do with putting out of its misery as well but would be more costly:

Very much so, maybe worth a few quid to wheel and then attach a tarpaulin over and leave next to the shed as an abadoned loco until such time as proper time can be dedicated to sorting her out properly, tarpaulins hide many a woe!!

"Simply stunning" - yep, in the sense that anyone operating it would be rendered blind by the WW2 searchlight attached to the front.

If you think that's bad have a look at Cartmel's attempt to both present something as 'mint' and 'enhanced'. The finest untouched mint boxed R357 you could ever find wouldn't make £145 so why turning the front into a glorified Christmas tree would help is anyone's guess
