RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted February 28, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 28, 2013 A picture tells a thousand words, we hear. Sure does - and they may not fit with the description. "Runs quite nicely" says the seller. What? With a front coupler like that? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dapol-0-6-0ST-Austerity-No150-in-War-Department-livery-Warrington-/221195417023?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item33804635bf Interestingly he sold it for £3.95 on 25Jan...... Horsetan
A starting price of 99p would be about right. Just look at those castings!... I've had another look, and am wondering if this might be the very same kit that languished in Nigel's shop for so many years?
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted March 1, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 1, 2013 ******** nitpickers! Steady on chaps, that's one of mine! Being a long time contributor to this thread just imagine my utter horror when I clicked the link. Seriously Ian, well spotted and thank you. The screw had come loose and the coupling dropped. Now rectified and new snaps uploaded. It does actually run quite nicely. Interestingly he sold it for £3.95 on 25Jan...... The sale of this loco must be jinxed! Actually I got a 'you've sold your item' e-mail within 10 minutes of putting it up. There was an error in the listing, which to their credit, Ebay rectified in short order. It was certainly worth more than the £3.95 . Somehow a BIN price had appeared , but not shown at my end.
amdaley
Another one for the "God loves a trier" category I remember the late Nigel Downend had one of these which pitched up in his secondhand corner. It was still there a few years later when he ceased trading......! A chance for someone to show their skills perhaps

RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted March 1, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 1, 2013 Thanks guys. It's actually appreciated when mistakes are pointed out. One of the regulars on here have pointed out that I've also wrongly numbered a Hornby 'Clan Line' to whom a thankyou is given. I was half asleep yesterday when I put them up! Apart from a computer repair workshop, which would keep it in the spares box, I would have thought that it had zero value. I've got a couple of PC boards in my spares box!
