I like(*) this "repair"

I bet none of you has though to use a Scalextric track support to repair such a fine piece of workmanship as this!

(*) In the same way some people like burning things (**)

(**) On second thoughts...

Is that what the green thing is??

A Hornby job lot?   Or only a single wagon which would fetch two quid at a swopmeet or exhibition? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394103892782?hash=item5bc26c2b2e:g:7uoAAOSwGx1inL6r

Condition: (Ab)used...

For the connoissueur they are also offering a large collection of Bratz(tm) alleged fashion dolls. For illustrative purposes, several sets look like escapees from a particularly rowdy Hen Night...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394182636822

This lot look even more spaced out...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394182649975

There are a couple of Action Man figures who look as if they have run afoul of the Bratz, and were cast aside as useless.  I'll not link to them to spare their blushes...

At last, after months of waiting, I had a chance to get myself one (actually two) of the following -

04B7D098-ECDF-47FD-A4D5-B6436135B87C.jpeg.db7b5d3edecd8d61d500a2893a871808.jpeg

As you can see from the screenshot, despite watching carefully for over a week, working out what I was willing to pay and being quietly confident of winning with that bid, my alarm went off one hour before the end of the auction.

I’ve had a lovely day at Cromford Wharf (High Peak Junction), and visiting various other sites along the C&HPR in person … what a b*%#%* that the day ended in frustration when, try as I might, in multiple locations, I could not get eBay to load so I could bid. I even restarted my mobile in the hopes of connecting. Signal absolutely fine, just eBay refusing to let me bid…

The winning bid was over £20 less than I was willing to pay for the pair of coaches!

Today, for me, that is my personal definition of “eBay Madness” 🤬

So why didn't you stick your bid on earlier, for the amount you'd decided you were willing to pay?

Here's one for today:  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125439683679 - badly re-lettered into a totally fictional livery, and sold untested but 'assumed to be working'...

Also O.T. but maybe interesting to some.

Well, I guess some of mine went 'down to the sea in ships' - University of Exeter undergrad, 1992-1995!

Is it the silly season on tank wagons? Here’s an overpriced friend for your job lot…

Well, today’s trip was a little impromptu after I saw that the weather was changing (and I am looking my after various dogs for the rest of the summer!) and I did think I would bid a little earlier than I normally do … but in the rush to get out, forgot!

The final part of the journey (the last half mile or so) was also “traumatic” as my satnav took me to the wrong side of the valley for the High Peak Junction visitor centre car park, and then swapping to Google maps took me on an exciting road trip around the hills and dales of the Peak District as it tried to circumvent a closed road (the direct route there!) … result? I totally forgot about bidding until the alarm reminded me!

Normally, I admit I bid what I am willing to pay in the last minute, in the hopes not to be outbid/sniped! In this instance, I had planned to bid an hour before the auction ended.

My own fault - but nevertheless *so* frustrated!! 😆

Whilst admiring your optimism, the same seller either has a twitchy typing finger or a thirst for punters’ hard-earned that, I hope, remains unslaked…

Or you could pay a couple of quid more and get three...

Sorry about that, I was experimenting with not being cynical, it doesn't suit me and made the memsahib think she'd been sucked into The invasion of the body snatchers....

Perhaps it's supposed to represent the recent hike in fuel prices?

I suspect that a good number of eBay sellers have dropped a huge amount of acid and then binge watched Scouting for toys...

Just because it says Airfix on the box that doesn't make it 'kit-built'! Not only did the S&DJR 4Fs never appear in blue, but only some of the very early locos and the little one-off tanks had brass domes and chimney caps. Red coupling rods?? Small brass numbers would be nice. The lazy painter couldn't even be bothered to separate the S from the D and the J from the R. All for a least twice the going rate (EBAYwise) for one of these.
