DCB
It might be restorable but, given that there is now no shortage of excellent r-t-r 57xx's, why would you bother? The K's 57XX chassis is a better runner than the Bachmann, that big flywheel keeps it rolling over dodgy track. I quite fancy a K's chassis for one of my dead Bachmann / Mainline 57XX bodies. I quite fancy a K's chassis for one of my dead Bachmann / Mainline 57XX bodies. I would be grateful for the Hogwarts Magic Spell that you appear to have applied to a K's chassis and motor to get it to run smoothly over dodgy track, I used to build them commercially, (hundreds), and, yes, you could use the older motor, especially with the flywheel, but "Run" was a difficult condition to arrive at, without a lot of extra work, decent gears, thrust sleeves on the shafts, added chassis spacers, re-drilled side rods that matched the chassis, new pickups, replacement wheel bearings. You could be lucky with the wheels, but not very often. Stephen

Il Grifone
A valuable attic find of collectables:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Hornby-Dublo-Locomotives-and-sets-/322247311875?hash=item4b076fc203:g:eRsAAOSwFdtXxzkb or perhaps not - it might just get the odd £50! The only decent item in the listing is the 2-6-4T and they aren't worth much.... Another one for the 'disappointed' list I fear! An excellent collectors set."

Il Grifone
Why do they bother trying to photograph the loco on the track, then only manage to get a couple of wheels on the rails? RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted September 4, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) It's just another case of lazy and sloppy presentation. Surely if you want to 'market' your item you do your best to make it look saleable and write up an easy to read, accurate and 'non-shouty' description.
