On the subject of German looking stuff have a look at this,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-BRASS-TRIX-22718-FINE-ART-DIGITAL-LOK-SOUND-DRG-MAFFIE-T18-TURBO-LOCO-/401582120082?hash=item5d8028dc92

It has that word RARE in the header and at that price I'll take a dozen.

Gibbo.

This firm has come up several times before with unfavourable comments earlier in this thread.

First one inexplicably lists 'churches' twice. Maybe having heard about the Reverend Denny, Awdry, Boston et al they're trying to appeal to the railway enthusiast who's also a clergyman. :jester: The information about the third lot says that it's 'centimeters (sic) long'. I wonder how many (and which box it refers to).

Placeholders from free listing days - seller intending to come back later and change details - but they rarely do........

I just don't understand why people post pics of the layout without stock and later with stock and then go on to say 'stock not included'. Ummmm!

I just wish schools would stop teaching centimetres. Millimetres and metres are what are used in the real world.

Look on the bright side it helps you spot school teachers and dress makers, quite a useful trait in its own way !

BRAND NEW Heljan CLASS 300 08 RARE

OK...

BR Class 300....a Parcels EMU conversion:? Number 300 08??? :scratchhead:

Class 300 was allocated to a proposed fleet of parcels-carrying electric multiple units, which were to be converted from former Class 307 units.

What's it supposed to represent?

According to the number it's supposed to be one of these:

Any resemblance is purely coincidental....

I think the postage is high as it's costed for postage to Australia, but I can't believe the loco's worth as much as they want either.

Its probably through their rip off global program you'll probably see a customs charge for Alost the same cost as the loco. I know of no country that has a 100% import duty.

I would imagine that it represents $35, at least to someone, who paid that much for it.   :scratchhead:

They probably wanted it for the Dublo 2-6-4T chassis, which wouldn't be out of the way pricewise.

Certainly not that one, not even MIB. Possibly a pre-war Southern Railway version might be....

The claim that it would run with Märklin is also dubious  (Wheel standards and incompatible reversing methods - Märklin uses an overvoltage pulse to operate the reversing relay and Trix cuts the applied voltage to zero.) The buckled section of Märklin track she's sitting wouldn't help in any case. Most Märklin track is stud contact which would give Trix 3 rail collector shoes a bumpy ride.

Perhaps they are rare in Germany? :scratchhead:

The seller is "Apple Forest Antiques"....so their expertise with 'recent' model railways is indeed questionable.

A nice mixed load of 'useful scrap/ parts' there..... ;)

This item looks a bit better!

Now then, Now then....

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/southern-railway-sign-Cast-Iron-Trespassers-Will-Be-Prosecuted/263794292881?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D53343%26meid%3D37d96095b5fb47b3bdd66269b284a7ff%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D232868499679%26itm%3D263794292881&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

Did the SR actually have such "Tresspassers will be prosecuted" signs....I am of the opinon that the Railway companies usually had signs with more wordage thatn this! ;)

On a similar theme...

There is a vast market it seems for "Quiet Please" and "Toilet" signs....

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=southern+railway+quiet&_sacat=0

Some are sold properly, as New items...."Reproducton" even.

I do believe that the GWR (or BR WR) did indeedd have notices regarding the Residents neat to some loco depots (Old Oak Common?). But most of the repros seem to go fror the Southern Railway....Nine Elms?

BUT I did not know that the "Big Four" had invented the "Hot-dog" sign, later to be used by British Railways!

Item 71 on this list would seem to suggest it's based on something genuine. Though admittedly a lot of 'Southern railway' signs were eg London and South Western Railway with various words painted out.
