kaiwhara
Hi Mark. Ironically I have discovered that Portsmouth and Southsea before it lost former platforms 1, 2 and 3 (all since renumbered) had a facility by the old Platform 1 that repaired BRUTEs, so it sounds as though I am going to have to make a number of these myself! Looking great sir! Andrew

Looking great sir! Andrew Thanks Andrew , I will warn you, they are extremely fiddley to make up...one of my brutes should be sent to Portsmouth & Southsea for repair, as one of the tiny fine (& I mean fine) sides snapped on one of mine while bending to shape & fled into oblivian , i've diguised it by having it up against another on the platform. They are well worth it though once they are done & painted, i've just got to blacken the wheels on mine & will probably get some more after Christmas. Guest Phil
Fantastic job on Shawbury Mark. Amazing how well you can add bits of Shrewsbury into a freelance layout and make it look very much like "Salop". You'll need to get some cement tanks for the Penyffordd-Curzon St / Oakengates traffic and these can be worked by your grey 56 when it is not on the steel coil Or by a pair of choppers. Also note that the "Euston" in the Wellington shot is being worked by "generator" 47409

Once I get those & some more dosh saved i'll look to get some cement wagons. The class 20's look great but think it'll be a while before I get the money together for a pair of those, so think the 56 would do the job for now All the best, Mark
1977joey
Afternoon guys, Well day off work for me today, so i've been having a 'session' on Shawbury Foregate, & thought i'd share some pictures ... A busy scene at the station with all Platforms occupied. A HST has just arrived at Platform 4 with the 14:48 terminating InterCity 125 service from London Euston. In tandem, just arriving at platform 1 is the Class 47 hauled 14:51 Liverpool Lime Street to Portsmouth harbour via Shawbury & Hereford service. The DMU's in the bays are a Tyseley WMPTE set at Platform 3 forming the 14:54 to Birmingham New Street, & at platform 2 is a Bristol based set forming the 15:05 all stations down the marches to Newport (Gwent) The HST departs Platform 4 for Shawbury north yard & will then shunt to Platform 1 to form the 15:25 back to London Railfreight Class 56 approaches passing Shawbury No 1 box (to be rebuilt) with the Margam to Dee Marsh steel coyle train The train slows to stop ready for a train crew changover My vinyls are on their way from Electra railway graphics ready to do an 'InterCity' rake of Mark 2's to go with my Blue/grey set. Cheers for now guys, Mark

1977joey
Evening Guys, Nothing to report on the layout itself, but ive got round to doing a couple of Mark 2f coaches into InterCity livery curtisy of electra railway graphics. Really pleased how they've turned out. The paint came off very easy by gently rubbing the coaches with nail varnish remover. I've also got BR lines interiors & have painted the standard seats in InterCity red. I still have 4 more coaches to do. Here's the 2 i've done so far... One of the coaches rubbed down & ready for the vinyl to be added. The interior is by BR lines & I have painted the seats in InterCity red The 2 newly liveried coaches a TSO & BSO coupled to appropriatly liveried Class 47 'Titan' waiting on the up goods at Shawbury Foregate wainting with an empty stock working from Crewe to Wolverhampton (Oxley sidings) I'll take this opportunity to wish you all at RMweb from myself & Shawbury Foregate a very merry christmas

The 150 with the 150/2 in the middle is brilliant as are the 2f coaches. Merry Christmas.

1977joey
Well guys, as I've had an evening to myself...I've just sat & played trains...unfortunatly not done much more to the layout, though there is plenty of time to do this. There's a couple of features I need to sort out, especially the signal box. Earlier in the thread someone asked me if I run to a timetable, & i've written a bit of one out. This is the sequence of trains between 17:10 & 17:50 with pictures, so this is peak time at Shawbury.... 1st up, Sprinter 150150 has arrived from Bangor at platform 4b at 17:08, this forms the 17:19 service to Chester via Wrexham A Tyseley West Midlands PTE 3 car class 101 strengthened with a '121' car arrives at Platform 2 from Wolverhampton at 17:12, this forms the 17:54 all stations to Birmingham New Street. Next 150144 approaches platform 4a with the 17:25 all stations to Wolverhampton (Ex Aberystwyth). This follows the 17:21 InterCity to London Euston from platform 1 150144 slows to a halt in front of 150150 next 47612 leaves platform 1 with the 17:21 InterCity to London Euston Meanwhile 150148 (a 3 car set with 150/2 in the centre) Has just arrived at Platform 3 with the 17:31 to Aberystwyth (Ex New Street) While 150144 is seen departing Platform 4 for Wolverhampton people can be seen waving relatives off on the Aberystwyth service as the doors are closed as the train is about to leave A 2 car Class 108 has just arrived at Platform 1 with the delayed 17:28 arrival from Crewe. This unit shunts to the carriage sidings to be cleaned & watered before returning back to Crewe at 18:05 As the 108 heads to the sidings, a 4 car Class 156 formation approaches platform 4 with the 17:41 to Manchester Piccadilly (Ex Cardiff Central) As the 156 departs A coal sector Class 37 has rescued a failed Class 31 with the 17:48 to Cardiff Central (Ex Liverpool Lime Street) After a short delay, the train departs platform 1 after the Birmingham New street DMU had departed platform 2. Cheers for now guys, Mark
