1977joey
Hi Chaps, Just another quick vid I took today in better natural lighting... In this clip, No 47 612 is in charge of the 14:49 Liverpool Lime Street to Portsmouth Harbour via Hereford service, while 56 005 arrives on the down goods loop with the Margam to Dee Marsh steel coil train. 1977joey
Hi Guys, That time again where i've made a purchase. For a while now i've pondered over the Farish Class 25, & have now got one, & although the moulding is a little dated, i'm really pleased with it . i think it represents the prototype well, & fits the bill for my layout, as it just fits in at the beginning of the period i'm modelling. My only niggle really is it sits a bit high on its bogies. I've also purchased the Mark 1 mini Buffet car for use in some of my CrossCountry & 'London' services. First up is the Mark 1 Buffet car in the formation of the 14:49 Liverpool to Portsmouth Regional CrossCountry service The Class 25 approaches Shawbury Foregate, passing no1 box signalled onto the down goods with the Aberystwyth to Stanlow empty oil tankers Later we see the 15:25 Sprinter to Aberystwyth at Platform 2 while at Platform 1, the HST waits to depart with the 15:21 InterCity 125 to London Euston Cheers for now guys Mark

1977joey
Hi Chaps, A pretty grim day weatherwise (as per usual) so had a bit of a session on Shawbury earlier. Here's a couple of pics taken during the sess 1st up, the station pilot Class 03 has just shunted 3 parcels Mark 1's to Platform 3 to form a Parcels working to Cardiff. The Class 25 over on the up goods waits in readyness to take over the train. Sprinter 150144 has just arrived at Platform 4 with the 14:18 Birmingham New Street to Chester service The 25 is coupled to the Shawbury Foregate to Cardiff parcels train ready for departure.... Then at 14:25, the 25 Claggs its way out of platform 3 bound for Cardiff via the Welsh Marches. Cheers for now guys, Mark

Gloucester Road
This is really coming together nicely. I like it when pictures have a little discription /story that tells what and where the locos are doing and going. Gives a sense of purpose. Any chance of a close up of the front and back of the colour signals. Looking at copying your efforts, if you dont mind. Keep the pictures coming. Thanks Gloucester Road Here's some pics I took for you... The colour lights were made up of plasticard, a small nail for the post, the styrene N guage ladder, & a cotton bud chopped up & halved for the lamp covers. I then chopped up pins for the safety rails behind. To me now these are looking a little over scale so am looking at replaceing them with smaller structures at a later date. I made the colour lights a few years ago & this is about the 4th layout they've been used on. All the best, Mark
1977joey
Hi Chaps, I'm about to start a project on repainting one of my Class 150/1's into the original Centro green livery with Regional Railways branding. Looking at the model, I could use Electra Railway Graphics for the stripes & 'Centro' logo's, Fox transfers for the Regional Railways logo's. The Provincial liveried one's are the best candidates as all I need to do is basically paint the Blue area green. This is the first time i've attempted a proper repaint at a model so wish me luck !! . I've found out that the windows easily come away after gently popping them out of the body shell.... Has anyone here attempted to get into the cab area of the Farish 150? I can't see anyway of opening this area up..... the reason I want to is to add a second destination blind underneath the one thats there. (It would be white as the units carried when 1st painted back in 1991) I'm just worried of braking it if I attempt it, so if anyone else has managed this, your help on how would be appreciated All the best, Mark
RMweb Premium MrSimon Posted February 16, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 16, 2013 Good luck with the repaint! I've only ever managed to get into the cab of a 60 and 66, and they had feindish clips. Are you stripping the model first or painting straight over? I've found the hardest part of repainting a unit/coach is not having massive brush lines (if you're brush painting) and I got round this by painting lots of thin layers with a big brush and rubbing any marks/bumps down with extra fine wet'n'dry between coats. Looking forward to seeing it in green Cheers Simon

Luckily Farish used Regional Railways grey rather than the off cream colour that was used for Provincial, & this is also the colour I need to keep for the Centro scheme. I just need to get rid of the Sprinter logo's & arrows. I'm going to use the usual model enamel paint. I'm going to just try it on a small area of the coach first to see how it goes on, & if ill need to thin it. I'm going to dig out my extra fine paint brushes for the job All the best, Mark

1977joey
Still coming along great Mark!!! Cheers class 66 Well chaps, i've had a couple of sets of transfers come through. Some Regional Railways ones which will go on my Centro 150/1's & some 'Tren y Cwm/Valley train' logo's which i've put on one of my class 108's. I've also blackened around the windscreens as the units appeared in wales/west country during the late 80's. This unit will be well at home on my Shawbury to Newport/Cardiff stopper & also the Llanelli/Carmarthen/Swansea Heart of wales services. Here is the 108 so far.... 1977joey
Hi Chaps,as i'm on a couple of early shifts, a proper start has been made on repainting one of my class 150/1 Sprinters in original Regional Railways 'Centro' livery. I'm actually repainting the upper body in enamel paint & using electra railway graphics to add the stripes & Centro logo's, & fox transfers for the Regional Railways logo's.This is the first time i've attempted such a repaint, but i've a feeling this livery will never come out in model form, having the Central Trains version as one of the original releases. This is how far I have got as this evening, this particular unit will become 150107 when complete. One car of the unit masked ready for the repaint The green goes on.... Off comes the masking tape to wait for the paint to dry, then the vinyl stripes, Centro logo's & Fox's Regional Railways logo's & numbers will be added. If Ii'm happy with how this turns out, i'm going to paint another 2 150/1 2-car sets too. More pictures to follow once the unit is complete Cheers for now, Mark
Removed a/c
Very nice Mark, so these ran in the 80s era? Might have a go with a OO version then if they did. As long as it fits roughly with my 80s time frame.

As long as it fits roughly with my 80s time frame. Hi scott, Cheers for that . The first one was painted in the october of 1990 from what I recall, I have an old copy of 'RAIL' somewhere featuring it, so it just fits into my era. It was a toss up between this or original provincial light blue, but i've always liked this livery as it was so different & fresh at the time. I was a big fan of the different Regional Railways liveries & PTE versions. I've got to repaint the seats back onto grey, more appropriate for 'Centro' livery, as I had done them in red (for the provincial livery) All the best, Mark

Thanks Jack, & for your earlier advice about repainting too If I could get my hands on another Class 150/2 to split the cars then I definatly would do a couple of 3 car sets. The 2 class 150/2's I have need to stay in Regional Railways livery for my Cardiff - Manchester's. Hopefully we may see some more liveries on the 150's when Farish announces it's forthcoming releases in march All the best, Mark
sammyboy
I would like one of the Class 150 Sprinters for my layout, preferably in the old "Super Sprinter" Running Man livery. Just how much can a set be bought for?
1977joey
I would like one of the Class 150 Sprinters for my layout, preferably in the old "Super Sprinter" Running Man livery. Just how much can a set be bought for? Hi Sammyboy, I havn't seen any N guage 150's in the shops for a while now as they are all discontinued....is it N or OO gauge your after? The Provincial liveried Sprinter (Running man) version was part of a Farish train set, I think I paid around £85 for each one back in 2009....hope this helps. Hopefully we'll see new releases on the class in march, I'd like another 150/2 set to make a couple of 3 car Centro sets with the 150/1's. Jack00
I reckon Farish will release FGW 150's to compete with dapols 153. Fingers crossed anyway :-) Jack.

Lets hope so Jack, it would be a popular model Well Chaps, I have almost completed one car of the 150/1 set. The stripes have now gone on & the Centro logo's, all I need to do now is paint the side 'Door open' hazard light orange, pick out the door opening buttons in red & add the fox's transfers Regional Railways logo's & numbers....Here is how the car looks now, though once the unit is complete, i'll take more pictures in better lighting which will hopefully be tomorrow...
