Like the Bentley?

But would Ivo Peters buy one if he was still around, today?

Will this do?

Groan2.png

That looks more like a laboured "groan" fart, with associated pebbledashing....

Found a button now I'm on a proper PC...

When I worked in Ford a few years back they were quite proud of the fact they were an American company. Especially since they never got lumped in with the poor quality British car makers of the era.

Not just cars! Thread drift into "Not a lot of people know that" territory ... in WW2, Ford at Trafford Park used to make Rolls Royce Merlin engines. And the Ford-built versions were better than Rolls Royce's own version, because Ford car manufacturing tolerances were better than Rolls Royce's hand-crafted tolerances.

Just checked on a scam call list for a number that had just tried to call me and came across this "review" of it.

Because it was in your line of sight?

To paraphrase the immortal Spike Milligna, the well-known typing error, 'everything got to be somewhere'.

Saw this staircase today, no idea why though.

You may have had your eyes open and your head pointing that way.

On a more sensible note, that's probably where some posh lass stands when naming the boats👍

Could the cladding be a later addition?

It's difficult to work out the construction timelines, as the angled support appears to go through the cladding, but the light green weathering is clearly affected by the position of the steps.

It doesn't quite look like the sort of environment that would endear itself to posh lasses naming boats to me, but then, what would I know about posh lasses except that they say they are arriving.

Who owns it though?

I'm surprised at that - I wouldn't touch a Ford with a bargepole!

Edsel Ford (son of Henry) had agreed to build Rolls Royce aero engines in the USA but was overruled by his father who was a prominent isolationist, and allegedly an admirer of Hitler.

US production of the Merlin was therefore contracted to another (then) prominent  car maker, Packard, who completely retooled it for mass production, thereby producing them several times faster than RR could manage and with greater consistency.

Ford USA later did get involved in the war effort, producing vast numbers of B25 Mitchell bombers in a huge factory specifically constructed for the purpose.
