See also his "Underworld" book, on the remains of ancient towns and cities now to be found deep under water.  Most relevant to Biblical accounts might be the pre-Sumarian civilisations in the now-offshore parts of the Indus Valley and (what is now) the Arabian Sea.

Port Royal has been compared to Pompeii.

Deviating from the "jokes" aspect of this thread (although that seems to happen with fair regularity), for a fascinating theory of how the great flood happened, read "Magicians of the Gods" by Graham Hancock.  Hint, there was a comet involved and the kilometers thick ice sheet at the time, ~11,000 BCE, melted suddenly and catastrophically.

John

However my point being that crocodiles and ducks had survived several of those comets, fires, floods, severe global warming and ice ages with no need for a boat!

Ancestors of ducks go back at least to the Cretaceous period. Modern ducks themselves are over 34 million years old.

Modern crocodiles are known to be at least 94 million years old with ancestors dating back to at least 250 million years.

Now if someone said that the artist can only draw certain animals then I might have smirked....

Now, coming from the planet Veeeegon, Longleat is one of the places I would avoid like the plague.  However  after seeing these cuties on the local (for local people) news last night I'm rather tempted to visit.

Apparently, fewer than 2500 Red Pandas left in the wild in and around the Himalayas. Longleat is part of a breeding and reintroduction program with other prison camps, so I guess I would be contributing to that if I was to give (the not so mad as his dad) Lord Bath my wonga to see them.

PS:  As I am led to believe, Longleat was given to the Baff's in exchange for a gambling debt.

If its operated by a private company you don't have to pay the fine.

It's operated by our district council and there was another machine at the other end of the car park anyway.

(You can also pay by phone but have to set up an account beforehand.)
