aberdare
Hi Al I don't know, I have a few days away from here and you've gone mad making all sorts of stuff, but they all look great. Posters are something Iv'e got to make in the near future so it was good to see yours being made, as for the lamps very clever indeed and if I was to have working lamps I'd certainly copy your method. Can you slow down a bit please as I can't model fast enough to keep up with you . Already looking forward to seeing what you do next.
Guest bri.s
Excellent photos as usual , and I'm pretty sure you'll do the rest of the layout as much justice as the station area with the way you tackle things mate , lovely modelling , one of the best stations I've seen . Sorry Jim, I turn my back for five minutes and look what happens... I've built a template to try and make the station lamps a bit more consistent. I've altered the process slightly to improve the look of them, by adding a layer of 10thou plasticard round the lower section of the tube. I've also added a sliver of 10thou plasticard between the two soldered joints, to prevent short circuits. I've also made the width of the lampshade larger. RMweb Gold westerhamstation Posted April 3, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2014 Hi Al are you on light duties now, the lights are really good and the painting sets them off a treat, all the best, still in the dark Adrian.
Andrew P
Lovely lamps mate, I'll get my order in soon, hahhahha. Bodge
RMweb Gold ChrisN Posted April 3, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2014 Al, I keep going round all the threads and keep finding this brilliant modelling. They do look good. I assume you got Andy P to nick them from Matlock on his way through there.
RMweb Premium Jason T Posted April 4, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 4, 2014 They do look fantastic Al. I thought the ladder supports were a bit thick on the first ones but they look spot on now. Top work.
freebs
Superb bit of scratch building Al. Yet another bit of quality modelling to add to your arsenal. What next? I reckon you should pull up all the track and relay to P4
Jaz
They really look the business, and working ones as well, so good looks and they do the business. The pictures you'll be able to do for night shots are going to be awesome. Edited April 4, 2014 by Jaz
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted April 12, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 12, 2014 Not been able to do anything to the layout at all this week, but here's a nice scene. A quiet sunny spring morning at Bakewell: I hope to have a bit more time next week to get some modelling done. Al.

RMweb Gold ChrisN Posted April 12, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 12, 2014 Al, Sorry, hit the wrong button, but I have changed it. Looking good, and yes I have been in the Peaks when it is sunny.
Captain Nick
I could almost be back in the late fifties about to walk off down the road on Market day with my Mum. Excellent work Al.
Marcus 37
Well Al haven't popped in for a while but, I think its time to give up the day job and go into the bespoke model railway business. Those lamps are magnificent. They will really look the part when they are on the platform and working. And as for that last picture I really did have to look twice it looks that real. Absolutely stunning. Marcus

RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted April 22, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 22, 2014 It's been a while, due to work commitments, but I finally got a bit of time to do a bit of modelling. Firstly, I built the toilet block for the end of the Station: I also took delivery of some things from Dart-Castings. To make my platform look a little less empty, I've got a load of sacks, parcels and luggage, and also some trolleys. These are white-metal castings, and just needed a little filing and then painting: I also got this fella... and his sleepy mate: But these are not meant to be porters, they are in fact loco crew, and here they are on the footplate: Nice to see they're raring and ready to go... I need to get some more detail on the faces, if I can, but my eyesight is struggling... That's all for now, Al.
aberdare
Hi Al love the sunny spring shot posted earlier and it's good to see you back making things again with a nice little building for the station. I like those Dart casting items and nearly got some for myself at the weekend, but other projects on my mind have taken priority. Jim

Yes, yes, I bought them, I'm really, really sorry for lowering my standards... However, I will be building some packing cases, and making some more sacks as you both have from DAS. Al. RMweb Gold JCL Posted April 23, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 23, 2014 Hey Al, that reminds me, my wife and I were driving to Cranbrook one time. There was an ad on the local radio for the Chrysler dealer that finished: "... and if our cars don't come up to your standards, lower your standards!" Coffee flew out of my nose.
