Rugd1022
Nice shots Westerner Was looking at John Vaughan's 'Power Of The Hymeks' this morning which features some of Ben Ashworth's shots taken around Brimscombe and on Sapperton Bank.... very picturesque. Nidge (with apologies for veering OT)
westerner
Thanks for the nice comment Rugd1022. I have the power of the Hymeks and it is good to see that his photos even with diesels are still instantly recognisable as Ben Ashworth's.

beachcomber_bob
This was my first attempt (at scale realism and modelling in general) so please be kind, or at least constructive in your criticism. The kit started out as an Airfix 'City of Truro', but I modified it into 'City of Birmingham' as a gift for a friend (hence the display case). It was originally intended as just a display of the engine alone, but because of the size of case I could get reasonably cheaply, the loco looked lonely on it's own, so the scene sort of expanded into what you see now. I had to rebuild the front bogie (Airfix had done a pretty poor job there) to make it at least close to the real thing. I made all the decals myself with inkjet transfer paper, so the splasher name, loco numbers and works plates would be correct. I had to redraw the victorian 'curly' monogram on the tender (using computer software) from an example I found on a jigsaw box while visiting NRM York. The period I've tried to go for would be about 1910-1911. (oh, and the rabbit popping out of its hole in the right foreground was made from Fimo!)
marc smith
This was my first attempt (at scale realism and modelling in general) so please be kind, or at least constructive in your criticism...... Nice work! I think you've made a good job of the kit, the home made transfers look a treat. And I think when on display in its' case - it looks all the better for being sat in some scenery, instead of on a bit of plain track, mounted onto bare wood! Now to build a layout........? Cheers Marc
Baby Deltic
Nice work there. The only thing I think it needs is a proper footplate between the tender and loco. You can't have the loco crew dicing with death every time they step over the gap between the loco and tender. Popular Post Sandhills
In keeping with the current weather conditions ! We have snow in Brookeshire aswell.................. ................and before anyone asks, its a combination of snow on a scrap piece of foamboard & track with the engine dusted in icing sugar. Body was detached after, washed and the loco is now running fine on my layout. I wouldnt recommend everyone starts chucking self raising flour and icing sugar at their best models though !!

RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted December 9, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 9, 2010 47715 disappears into The Mound Tunnel as it heads light engine to its namesake depot, Haymarket. Circa 1986... The lighting and mood of this photo makes it one of the most realistic I've ever seen - really excellent stuff!

'CHARD
Superb Andy, the Pentlands looming over the tenements in the background by the looks of it. This is quite simply one of the most fantastic images I've seen in this thread, the willowherb, or are they red-hot pokers, on the embankment provide perfect context - the greasy/oily-looking NBL is best-of-breed without a doubt, and with its B&G MkI conveys the uncomfortableness of corporate transition perfectly. Oh that is truly stunning, totally in the zone for me Andy, deserving of Photo of the Week for sure. Love it, a great showcase for your alchemy on Margate's old 'sad-eyes.' Hope you don't mind if I mms it to a couple of mates B)

Andrew F
I was hoping no-one would notice I saw it later and took a shot with it on the track but the picture wasn't as good. Thought maybe it was some dodgy bogie construction I'd done at first Cheers Andy
