Popular Post Tony Wright
I'm not sure whether this qualifies as a 'realistic' picture......... You see it's a picture of a model 'me' (produced by ModelU and painted by Tim Elcock) taking a picture of an A4 at Little Bytham in 1958 (with a Rollieflex twin-lens reflex camera). The problem is, the figure represents a bloke in his seventies, taking a picture in 1958! In reality, that same bloke would only have been twelve years old then (and certainly not in possession of a Rollie). Not only that, he never set foot on LB's platforms. I wonder how many other layouts have their owners actually on them? Model railway snobbery, perhaps? 27 1 4

At first, I thought it was a photoshop because I see that you have employed the model you as your avatar! In answer to your question, don't worry you are not alone... For some reason I had the same sort of idea and used a Dapol figure which I painted in the style of my very first school uniform, that of Rudyard Kipling Infants school from 1970. Seen here watching a J50 pass the Halifax to Keighley platform at Queensbury in the early 1950s. Just goes to show that this hobby of ours is way too much fun! You have had that pale blue pullover on for years.... Perhaps another ModelU version of you in a decent suit? Only kidding Tony. Not quite as prolific or colourful as the models of Michael Portillo, which seem to pop up on a lot of exhibition layouts now!

Popular Post Tony Wright
And there I was thinking 'I' had more than one jumper and one pair of trousers.............. Not so! Still, since Edenham and Little Bytham are only a short distance apart (the two termini on Lord Willoughby's long-abandoned private railway), then 'I' must have visited them on the same day. Ian Wilson 'altered' history in building his beautiful model of Edenham, reasoning that the GN had actually taken over the Willoughby Railway, it becoming then part of the LNER and finally BR Eastern Region, closing finally under the Beeching axe. It really is wonderful modelling....... 38 6
