Those vans look the part, of course. Worth recalling their design was based upon a SECR original by Lionel Lynes (not to be confused, for our American readers, with Lionel Lines), who went on in Southern days to do the detail design for 'Maunsell' coaches.

Evening Robin,

Looks like you've made the most of this Christmas.

The Peter Gray book looks superb.

Your Mogul is nicely weathered and looks superb. Dapol have done a great job and it bodes well for the 78xx Manor.

Like others have said a new 10xx County Class wouldn't go a miss.

More Mogul action soon please Robin...  ;)

Cheers,

Mark

Someone indeed Robin. And now that Rapido have thrown their  hat into the GW ring with the 16XX and 15XX and appear to be taking a serious interest in UK centred models ,then perhaps they might take up the cause.

To be fair, the 16xx is a Model Rail item - they chose what to make and merely have contracted to have Rapido make it, just like the J70 and E1.

Certainty looks a smart loco, does it run as good as it looks?

Out of the three brand new locos I've bought in the last six months I'd put it second behind the Bachmann pannier but ahead of the Hornby prairie. However, that's first impressions as I haven't run it much yet.

Nice!  Thanks Robin.  That old Mainline/Bachmann jobbie wasn't at all bad (above the footplate).

Nearly thirty years ago now since I bought it.

Snap ! About the same as I did.

It was my first split chassis loco to be converted to DCC and ran extremely well, that is until I knocked it off my layout !

She now resides in a suitable place not knowing her fate, maybe a modellers equivalent of Woodhams ?

One for the wagon ID experts of this sitting in the bay platform at Kingsbridge nearly 60 years ago now. Some sort of trailer on board waiting to be unloaded.

I think the "trailer" is either a mower or it was a machine to turn the hay (used to turn the rows of cut grass for it to "make" before bailing it into hay bales).  When I was a kid I remember a local farmer using such a machine when hay making.  As to the wagon looks like a steel bodied sand wagon.

The wagon is a BR 'Medfit', a steel bodied equivalent to a 3-plank. Tri-ang did one with working drop-sides and Parkside do a correctly-dimensioned one without.

AFAIK, the sides on Sand wagons were fixed.

Pretty certain the load will be a hay tedder.

Here we go, Bamford Wuffler.

Wuffle meaning

A gentle sniff or snort.

noun

To sniff or snort gently.

There, I was correct.

Could even be used to describe the progress of a Branch Line train; the inoffensive Pannier wuffled  towards Kingsbridge?
