A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

Seen on the SVR website , this beautiful shot of GWR 28xx class 2857 crossing Victoria Bridge. An added bonus to the shot is an Avro Lancaster up above too. Marvellous. Photo courtesy of Rich Pittmann.

Target Practice for old times sake - thankfully, they haven't got a tall boy or a 4000kg HE 'Cookie' on board...

Question about something I've noticed about the 30xx ROD's. When did they get smokebox door straps? Originally I would have said at Nationalization, but here's this picture with an unknown date: Warwickshire Railways. (Here is a clear photo of the original style door on the 30xx's: Door)

The Bachmann GWR green version has the door without straps. BR version does, as seen on @gwrrob

My model of 3005 is based on a Norman Lockhart photo taken in October '47 and didn't have them and was scrapped the following year anyway.

Just for clarity I was only joking and it was in the David Lockett book from Lightmoor Press.

My apologies for not fully realizing the great work of @toboldlygo for scraping off those straps!

Now it would be rude not to run the new Accurascale Deltic on ANTB ,the only problem is I didn't order one.😀

Deltic has its place in railway history, but probably not in the Sarf 'Ams in 1947!

Is there any other way of identifying what PO wagons would be used on a specific service or route other than studying photos?
