A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

Doesn't look too bad Robin, in fact it doesn't look bad at all! :good:

Considering these coaches first appeared when I was still at school then yes and the correct livery was its selling point.I had a couple of Airfix ones but I used those for Comet sides conversions.

A sneak preview of something for the weekend chaps.

There's bound to be some stiff competition then !

I'll just nip down the barbers !!! :)

That comment goes so well with your avatar. Can really imagine Eddie coming out with that.

CTMK and I went for a stroll around the district of Lower Dean this afternoon.

In this image, we see the course of the former Deancombe branch running along the edge of this pretty, secluded valley:

Here's a rather nice view from the gate to the field:

This is the local village hall in Lower Dean. We use it quite a bit. You literally have to keep feeding the electricity meter with £1 coins. I've never seen mock Tudor beams on a building of this nature before, though. I think it might make an interesting subject for one of Stubby's models:

It's a leap of faith to butcher a £40 coach rather than something you get off ebay for a tenner.

Just don't try adding brass sides with Araldite like I did.........use Evostik

What's a good project/donor for a full brake then chaps?

Is this what you require?

K22 - use Hornby or Mainline 57' RTR - Worsely Works sides

K38 - use Hornby or Mainline 57' RTR - Comet sides

K40 - use B Set (Airfix/Hornby) - Comet Sides

K42 - use Hornby or Mainline 57' RTR - Comet sides

K19 - use Hornby or Mainline 57' RTR - Dart Castings sides

K36 - use Hornby or Mainline 57' RTR - Dart Castings sides

Handles, buffers and battery boxes available from Comet (and possibly one or two other suppliers too)

My blog/thread ( link below)  lists the trials, tribulations, successes and failures of this method of construction, with accompanying photos.  2 out of the first 7 were completed incl paint. The other 5 will be taken apart and re-done with Evostick.

Brilliant list. I have used Worselys for a GWR part build just once and they are tidy etches and not often mentioned on here. That Company provide a venue for a weekend workshop every year. I nearly made it to theirs last November (Derby) but I had one of my 'funny episodes' so couldn't go. (Didn't cost me as you only pay for the Hotel AFAICR). Worth looking at those if you need some support to get started on coach building/conversion.

Yes, agreed ..... Evostick every time.

Phil

What exactly is the donor vehicle listed as 57' Hornby/Mainline please.
