RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted June 29, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 29, 2017 I have fond childhood memories of the Stalwart. The army had one on the beach at littlehampton while i was on holiday. They were giving kids a ride off the beach into the sea. Great fun!
RMweb Gold 46444 Posted June 29, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 29, 2017 Meanwhile at the RM Stonehouse Barracks in Plymouth a Gallic flare was noted with the arrival of these. Friday night in Union Street will never be the same... Wiki Commons History and photos: http://www.citroenet.org.uk/foreign/slough/rn-pickup/pick-up.html I wonder what the Finching's would have made of these? They would look good on a set of Warwells... Cheers, Mark

RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted June 30, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 30, 2017 I didn't know the Finching sisters were into bondage. Many had their suspicions and the Rev Crevice was often seen limping away late at night from the Finching residence after their monthly gin and gherkin evenings.... RMweb Premium M.I.B Posted June 30, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 30, 2017 (edited) Alvis was also the Green Cross Code man and the pub landlord in the Grimleys . Edited June 30, 2017 by M.I.B
RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted June 30, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 30, 2017 When you get your new Finching open thirds warwell wagons go for the Oxford one, it's marked 'On loan to GW'... It's also cheaper and looks (to my mind, not really knowing them) better.

RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted June 30, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 30, 2017 Thanks, I included a response to your comment because I didn't want people to think that Hattons don't do a GWR livery.
devondynosoar118
Another factor worth remembering is the sidings at Wrangaton and the stores depot there from WW2 were still operational. The Americans ran the wartime dump there but RN built the current buildings, not sure what was there in 1947. I would say the most likely load in this period would be Universal Carriers (Bren Gun carrier) as those were tracked so not driven on road for long distances, plus several can fit on lowmac or warwells without going out of gauge. Self propelled guns are another option.
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted June 30, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 30, 2017 For those not in the know the Alvis factory was opposite Carbodies , the company who still make the London black taxi . My Wedding Car was an Alvis; though you all needed to know that. Ar$e
