Jaz
Yeah, my last post was most inappropriate! Hal LOL, we are all often in the position where we wonder if we have put our foot in it....I just admired a wagon on Blueeighties thread, only for him to point out that it was one sent in by a customer for a repaint!!!!!!!! Oops, I still admire it, and I follow Blueeghties thread because I love going and seeing what he can do to improve railing stock. I still think the one in question is nice, and won't be at all surprised in Blueeighties efforts are really good. The thing is in this game a lot of it is about opinion, and we do not all think the same, I am sure a vast majority of the railway modelling fraternity think Im as nutty as peanut brittle, what with my graffiti wall, zoo animals, clowns, dogs..... etc etc. The thing is I enjoy myself, and don't take myself seriously......I will also pull the leg of friends....and they will get their own back.......won't they Sasquatch ROFL....... You don't have to know everything, you don't have to get everything right, you just have to be willing to have a go and enjoy yourself and if you improve as you go? BONUS!!!!
Jaz
You probably already saw these in the back ground, and as I wasn't certain of the colours and adjusted as I went thee is not much on the build up. an interesting fact is...the base colour is human flesh. 3959 3941 3880 AND somewhere in the box is a Bedouin who rides him....which would be cool for either A selling rides in a Safari.... or a Circus act.

Jaz
There is loads of spoilers in the back ground as I tend to paint in batches.
jcredfer
I recently found that they are good ............ It's not a problem, I have found since using these that I have much more control over the tip of the 'brush' for better detailing and have promoted them on several occasions here and on other thread and in pms. I think them well worthy of a bit of plugging, and have seen them on display at many shows. Never rub them hard, it takes the tips off, i dip them in eater then twist them over toilet paper to clean them, and even if you leave the paint on....oops....they can still be used. It gives a different technique / finish but still has a purpose. I believe everyone that has tried them has found they have a use. For dipping into Track Cleaner and cleaning wheel rims and Contacts on Locos. ..
Jaz
I don't normally do long photographs showing off the'messy' bits. But the back ground behind the tracks i had in mind is not deep enough for a fence and the animals even if they hug the wall. So I had to consider a home for them. Then I thought the place where Kal and I sit at the control area is just a dumping area at the moment and I can easily add a lift in lift out piece. And there is still scenery from hen this was the MDF area. 3983 This piece was made as a testing area. To the left is the Sheffield Park / Bluebell area. To the far right Goathland. From left to right there is 4ftx2,i.e. the whole table is 8ft.......Kal has not seen this development....
Jaz
The indent could be a watering hole, and the whole track....which is his test area.....would need ballast etc. 3975 3974 The board the foam is sat on is loose and can be lowered. Jaz
This was painted back in the 60s, and has stood the test of time......but it does not stop it being rather shiny 3965 a dull grey, and some mud 3966 3967 Rhinos tend to root, roll, run through mud and water making them somewhat filthy 3968 this rhino seems big actually not that large, but has full grown horns, there are pigmy rhinos and hippos i believe 3969

Jaz
Flamingos are pink because of all the shrimp they eat. Why some otriches are very pink? Lord only knows. 3960 I painted it black, then added white while still white to get the black grey variance. The pink will have a translucent white over it. The head is not a good shape and too small to adjust, filing usually leaves a feathery finish which would be in appropriate ..I will probably always pose it facing away. 3961 the initial black detailing was also to thick so I had to go back in a repaint some of it wit white so it was just a hint of colour 3964 this is not a good picture...i'll take one on the layout later 3972 I was surprised by the pinkness as well because the model in normal light appears much whiter now.

Removed a/c
Loving the safari park, I had contemplated this idea for Tynsleyfield but I think it would have needed to much space to be credible. I opted to go with a zoo as in the 80s the enclosures were smaller and closer together unlike most zoos of today. Nice find on the airfix animals, they can be quite expensive to get a hold of especially complete boxed sets.
RMweb Premium southern42 Posted January 18, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Looking good, Jaz. I saw these on Friday at the Model Engineering Show at Ally Pally and thought of you. I ended up taking rather a lot of photos to capture the essence of its portrayal of Indian life on the line. It was gorgeous. Brought back memories of the Indian Railways programmes on TV I've been watching over the last couple of years. If you'd like to see some more pics, I'll pop some up tomorrow. I don't want to intrude willy nilly. Edit. I've just noticed - I've given the first image file the title "lions"!!!!
