steve fay
I agree Jeff, the lamp brackets & whistle castings will definitely be changed.
JeffP
Laurie does the lamp brackets, who does a brass whistle? I can only find Markits? Not listed by Ragstone either.
steve fay
I'm sure Hobby horse does a whistle
JeffP
Correct. I reckon there's not much about this stuff you don't know.
steve fay
It's only because I've got printed lists of everyone's castings list and I've circled the ones I want

Blue Peter
I was disgusted with the whitemetal whistle,so I made one, same as for the F.S>

JeffP
Very nice. Now, if that's yours, what's the one on your A4 like? Only kidding. Care to explain how you made it, it appears to be brass tubing? And what have we here? Your A4 ALSO has a brass smokebox door cover????? We need to see more. Blue Peter
Jeffp-- A wee bit of work here:-
JeffP
That's very nice. What holds them in place, ie: not falling in, when closed, and what are the hinges please?
Blue Peter
Pins to the inside of the cut-out. (any help)--Rob
ozzyo
Here is a photo of my whistle:- After showing off your whistle (and a nice job it is), how are thinking about getting the chimney to fit to the body like it should with just about no visible lip showing? As in this photo. All I can think of is that you may have to mill a rebate into the body so that you can sink the chimney casting into it so that it fits nice and smooth. OzzyO. JeffP
Since all chimneys of model kits are separate, so as to allow for single, double etc, I recon suitable careful thinning of the flange would have to do.
JeffP
Mine's connecting rods arrived today, with sundry other bits. Does anyone know if the rods are laquered? I will be soldering, not gluing.
Blue Peter
I would rub them down anyway. Rob

Blue Peter
Wheels:- Fitted the wheels and connecting rods- ran free looking good, then fitted the motor/gearbox turned it on, oh dear they all have a wobble(Grrrrr) and a slight clunk, back to the drawing board-(double Grrrrrr)? JeffP
Seems the wheels still not fit for purpose. They LOOK like Slaters, but don't seem to be?
Blue Peter
JeffP,definitely not slaters ,probably Chinese, never had probs before.
RMweb Gold traction Posted February 23, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) Hi guys, I know all those on here all ready subscribe and are already building this, but if you know of anybody who might be interested, then let them know. I now have no choice but to cancel my subscription to this. If anybody wants to make me an offer for the parts/isues I've got please PM me. I have split most of the issues into the binders and all parts are in bags with the issue number written on the front. It is heavy for everything so postage will probably have to be by courier. Hopefully someone will buy this lot then take out the subscription to complete the series. I know it will be sold for much less than I've paid out so far, but I would sooner someone have this lot and carry on than me just cancel the subscription and not have the parts to complete it. It is complete with all required binders up to issue 75 Due to being told I now need to have both shoulders replaced, which at 45 came as a shock! I have some other higher priority things to deal with. Cheers Ian Edited February 23, 2016 by traction
