Hi, Dave. I like the lovely set of Derby photos. The class 120 unit in C6520 has both been declassified and has a class 101 TSL. In the last photo, 31190 has the white dots in the former head code box, but they both have diagonal lines crossing them. Splits in the dots or glazing is what I’m wondering - it’s certainly a fantastic photo of that loco.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Hi, Dave. I like the Scottish photos. They are very scenic and atmospheric. Lairg makes a fine sight in the last photo in August, 1973. You can see two former Gresley corridor carriages in use by the pw department.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Hi, Dave. I like the Carlisle photo's. In particular, in the second one, C7076, it is a fine view of 87032, on 6th, August, 1985. The one of 143002, in C7079, is already historical since the 143's are now working elsewhere in the South of Wales and south west of England (Cardiff and Exeter in particular).

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Hi Dave,

Another set of great photos. My favourite of today's batch is C6095 at Corbridge.

Regards, Ian.

Hi, Dave. I like the Newcastle to Carlisle photos. Apart from that one at Corbridge, the first one at Blaydon is of interest too. The Monkhouse and Brown building is good and grim! It's crying out to be modelled.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Terrific stuff as always Dave, lovely to visit this page on a daily basis.

Over 1,909,000 views, let’s get it to 2 million. Is this the most viewed thread on Rmweb?

It’s a must for 1970s BR fans.

Presumably the Western Region IC125 at Hexham in C6734 was on diversion?

Nothing that simple.

It was on display for the 150th anniversary of the opening of the line from Blaydon to Hexham.

So a WR HST was an obvious choice - presumably Heaton just happened to have it "spare that weekend" - probably off the NE/SW route.

West! From Carlisle? Tut-Tut Dave

Living in Northumberland I have to start my journeys from the Newcastle end of the line, hence the order of the photos.

Of course some of the trains I photograph have started in Carlisle.
