Bon Accord
43290 seen at Clayhill carriage sidings this afternoon. I suspect this rake worked the 0910 Edinburgh - Aberdeen, as the corresponding 1347 departure for Kings Cross was cancelled and apparently started from Edinburgh (presumably with a spare set from Craigentinny). Note the lack of lower skirting, particularly the door which covers the emergency coupling equipment.
enginelane
Yep, cancelled and if a ticket holder you can access the delay refund scheme.
LMS2968
So what happened to the poor little thing? It appears to have hit something low down.
Bob Reid
Look closely at the buffer stop.......
ady77014
Oh dear! Did someone misjudge his speed then?....
Bon Accord
Look closely at the buffer stop....... Well done that man! I hadn't even noticed the plastic detritus adjacent to the buffer stop. Pity the poor soul who has to reply to the inevitable "please explain" letter. Anyway, here's a slightly better image of the bufferstop and what's left of the lower skirting. JeffP
Considering the strength of that part of an HST, (I remember seeing a class 47 front that had been crushed by one....leaving hardly a mark on the HST), it's hit at quite a speed.
LMS2968
Well, the 47 might have come off second best, but I think the stop block won this one!
45125
The lower skirt has very little strength, the area above is the strong part. Al Taylor.
modfather
Looks like a driver left it too close to the blocks, when the brakes have released from the other end its rolled.
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted June 1, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 1, 2015 What a feeble excuse for cancelling a train. Get a formula 1 pit crew in and that nose would be changed in 30 seconds. Mike.
LMS2968
Ahh, but you can never find a Formula 1 crew when you need one!
RMweb Gold PhilH Posted June 1, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 1, 2015 Wouldn't like to be the front jackman on that crew...

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 1, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 1, 2015 Look closely at the buffer stop....... Ah, 'touch parking'. That bit is of course quite thin - the solid bit is the point of the 'snout' and above, in a collision on Landore depot many years ago the HSt PC was barely scratched, the Class 47 which it hit had to have a new cab. Pete Harvey
The Driver was probably used to driving the NMT.
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted June 1, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 1, 2015 The Driver was probably used to driving the NMT. Just as long as it wasn't 43062 leading....... Cheers, Mick
