RMweb Gold DaveF Posted July 18, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 18, 2014 Mossend used to be a good place for photos David, but you cant get in now it's fenced off. I noticed that last time I was in the area. It's sad, but I can understand why having seen some "enthusiasts" and "photographers" in other locations in recent years. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted July 18, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 18, 2014 Hi, Dave. Great photo's of Mossend North. Have never been there, but it was obviously a place full of interest, when the photo's were taken. That scrapyard looks very interesting - just the kind of thing to put on a model. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted July 20, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2014 A few from the Foxfield Railway now back in 1975 - I can hardly believe that is nearly forty years ago - doesn't time fly! At the time slide film could be hard to find - like a lot of things in Britain in the mid 70s - so a lot of Dad's images at this time were taken on Orwochrome. Scanning them and trying to get to somewhere near the "right" colour was an "interesting" exercise. Fortunatley my slides (prefixed "C" in the file number) were on Agfa, so I had something to aim for. Poor Old Bruce
I've been to the Foxfield Gala weekend today with 0-4-0ST VULCAN as the visiting loco. The first time I went there I was hauled by LEWISHAM from Foxfield to Blythe Bridge and back with the reversal at BB achieved with the assistance of HELEN. Great photos as ever Dave, Keep them coming. Edited July 20, 2014 by Poor Old Bruce
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted July 20, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2014 Hi, Dave. What delightful photo's of the Foxfield line. Great to able to time-travel in this way. They are a really splendid selection of locomotives in the mid-seventies, and some interesting rolling-stock as well. I think that you've made a very expert job of the scanning of your Dad's photo's. Please keep the photo's coming. All the best, Market65.
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted July 20, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 20, 2014 Time now for the second batch this evening. If you lived in Nottingham as I did for part of my childhood you would probably have visited Skegness at some time during the summer. In the 1950s travel was usually by train for a day out, if you were lucky your family might have been able to afford a whole week away. Skegness remains a popular destination for those in the East Midlands. If you were young then you might have gone to do a bit of trainspotting at one of the stations on the route. Today we look at a few trains to and from Skegness at locations between Nottingham and Grantham over almost thirty years. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted July 20, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2014 Hi, Dave. What a good second selection of photo's that you have posted this evening. The one of the class 114 DMU at Radcliffe on Trent, May '75, shows how the window vents on the DTC have been painted over in BR Blue, whilst those on the DMBS are still in un-painted metal. The photo' which I particularly like is the one of 20070 and an unidentified class mate at Bottesford, August '81. It is very atmospheric and has good detail visible in it. Please keep these photo's coming. All the best, Market65.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted July 21, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 21, 2014 Hi, Dave. These photo's of Crewe bring back some happy memories for me of a rail-tour in the '70's. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted July 21, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 21, 2014 Dave, Class 20s, Derby to Skeggy. That brings back memories. In the early 70s, there was a set of all maroon Mk 1s that were seen on that working. Do you remember them? Yes I do. For some reason neither Dad nor I ever got a photo of them. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted July 22, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2014 A few photos I took on 5th March 1977, a Saturday, at Brookman's Park north of Potters Bar for this evening. I've no idea why I went there, I didn't visit anywhere else on the same day. Perhaps I'd seen a photo in a magazine and decided to go and have a look. When the slides came back from Fujichrome I noticed they had a green colour cast. I eventually realised that I'd forgotten to remove a polarising filter from the lens which of course I didn't need on a dull day. I've removed some of the colour in Photoshop. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted July 22, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2014 Hi, Dave. Excellent photo's of Brookman's Park. I especially like that class 55 Deltic photo - it exudes great power and purpose. 47410 is seen working without fuss on one of those other ECML class 1 passenger services - I wonder if it could be one of the services for Hull? Please keep the photo's coming. All the best, Market65.
RMweb Premium keefer Posted July 22, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) More and more great pictures Dave. There always seems to be an interesting detail or two in what may seem like otherwise ordinary shots. For example the cl.313 with a 4-character headcode in use - I knew the GE 315s had them, but never realised the 313s did too.(and well after they were discontinued) On a more emotional level, I would've loved to have seen 2 x cl.50s with 13 or 14 on. Can imagine it'd have been pretty impressive! Edited July 22, 2014 by keefer
