  1. Rob Knowing of your previous trials and tribulations I will share this....my personal experience is that the Bachmann version is not as pretty but is a little more robust in use. The coupling rods on the Hornby version can be problematic. I'm on my second.... Chris
  2. Thinking laterally would a cheap LED head torch help with seeing jobs? Chris
  3. In terms of TV coverage of the hobby I grew up in an era when a Christmas documentary on the Flying Scotsman was a real highlight - if you saw it when it was broadcast.....our glass is half full surely........?
  4. Can't comment on the Humbrol spray but I've used a bit of Halfords Matt Lacquer as well as Army Painter ?Anti-shine and both seem fine if well shaken (and if desired warmed up...)
  5. I was careful to say "help" in the context on NEMs and KDs C
  6. Indeed and preferably the double ended version which shows both bottom of buffer beam and the actually coupler height. I assume the platform height end will help with NEMs as well? https://www.hobbies.co.uk/kadee-ho-scale-insulated-coupler-height-gauge?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaignid=6727975578&utm_campaign=Shopping-Research_Campaign&utm_term=&adid=388174523725&addisttype=gpla&matchtype=&gclid=CjwKCAjwzaSLBhBJEiwAJSRoktUObmD1Dker7Gxb_QgcVUafEaupW-zx4G2-6Iu1CD-ipCuHFzFw_hoCFzAQAvD_BwE
  7. This is excellent news - our hotel near the race course is booked....
  8. I have no idea but wonder if the 66 photos are late in a week with no cleaning?
  9. Thanks to everyone who came along to the Autumn Weekend. It was great to be back at the Abbey and see so many old and new friends enjoying our hobby. Plans are being finalised for the Spring Weekend on 4-6 March 2022. Booking will open in November. Some pictures from DCC, Track building, 7mm kits and Weathering. Chris Hopper
  10. A gentle reminder......this is RMweb.....please don't be so reasonable.....
  11. Seen at Keynsham this lunchtime - 40 early... 3S59 2103 Swindon Transfer to Swindon Transfer (lines around Bristol, South Wales and Hereford)
  12. I stand corrected. The archive includes an October/November 1949 edition.
  13. That was cancelled according to RTT. I'm pretty sure this was the train: 1120 Llanwern Exchange Sdgs to Margam T.C.
  14. I've certainly come across one index (1970) as a separate document but I have not explored in detail.
  15. Its all there - I hope showing a cover is not a big copyright issue - this is the earliest.
  16. I'm hoping to weather my 2 BS JSAs this weekend - I'm lite on prototype photos although the one included with the models is rather tasty from a weathering perspective. Anybody found anything on line? Chris Hopper
