  3. On the 9th November 1985 I was on the Traintours charter train from Manchester to Penzance. The first class 40 to Penzance. Early morning at Man Vic the first and only time I saw the Workington to Huddersfield TPO. 47630 Man Vic 091185 40122 at Bristol 091185 Arrival at Penzance Ready for Departure
  4. I think a lot of people these days forget that along with CJF's Great Western branchline terminii the only complete kits that were available at that time were K's predominately GWR kits. They got modellers into Kit Building, the only other choices being Hornby Dublo or Rovex. I know I was one of those modellers until 'I saw the llight'. I do believe that Bob Essary and the (West Herts ?) group modelled Portreath in EM before the advent of P4/S4 and Heckmondwyke. Edited to Add Portreath

  8. Tony, Good to meet you again at Wigan. But before you East Coast officianados go too mad I like the Isinglass van. I note that it appears to be missing a brake linkage - the classic GN/LNER angled link fitted between the two Vs Your Mr Gresley spent a number of years on the L & Y at amongst other places Newton Heath carriage and wagon works. The L & Y fitted wagon brake gear was introduced many years before it became a standard GN/LNER fitting. Added very much tongue in cheek to correct a common misconception about the origins of the brake gear.
  9. After some concerns about being able to transfer and still being able to use my Lotus Approach database (critical in my case) I eventually risked it. It downloaded W10 fairly quickly, with no problems and luckily for me my database still works. However my computer when running W7 Pro. had a strange habit of mysteriously locking up and shutting down. (Which even baffled my local Professional computer guru) Since I have been using W10 this has not happened once. I wonder if the continuous upgrades inflicted on us by MS had caused the problem with W7 Pro. Anyone else had a similar problem apparently solved by the W10 upgrade. ?
  10. 37006 certainly had marker lights at one end BUT still retained the doors at both ends so not flush fronted 37006 Guide Bridge 09 August 1983 37006 Guide Bridge 09 August 1983
  11. Clive, A number of the MR Condensing tanks were allocated to the North West in their declining years. Here is a very unlikely pairing on the very last train (an LCGB Special ?) to leave Royton in April 1966 (a very wet and dismal evening). 82003, 47202 Royton 16 April 1966
