  1. I've been researching these beasts myself for a future project. I'll post here the images I've found on the interweb, but please be aware that NONE of them are my copyright. THey all belong to whoever posted them online in the first place! HTH
  2. Thanks for dealing with the problem rather than sweeping it under the carpet.
  3. I'm afraid I can't help you with that one. 🤣
  4. I've done the cab end door end swap on mine too. Nothing to worry about. HTH
  5. If you can't find such a speciment, I used these on mine https://hmrs.org.uk/br-coach-lining-up-to-including-blue-grey-period.html I find Pressfix easier to use for lining than waterslide transfers as having the backing paer on the top keeps them nice and straight. HTH.
  6. Yep! That's the one. Good find. 🙂
  7. Kit for a pair of commonwealth bogies for two quid (+P&P) from Replica. Handy if you do go for a "cut and shut" on the existing bogies. http://www.replicarailways.co.uk/mainsep1/menuaccess
  8. You'll need to swap the whistle on the cab front for a pair of air horns. Also, the first class bit requires the yellow designation stripe and the buffet car the red designation stripe as these were already in use by the time CEPs and BEPs recived the SYP. Image copyright Colour Rail. NOT mine!
  9. Thanks for that. I haven't seen any of the Railnuts for quite a while now, so you're information is more up to date than mine.
  10. AFAIK, Heaton Lodge Junction is by far the larger layout. However, Pete and the Railnuts team have an aspiration to bring together all three of the Making Tracks layouts with a much extended fiddleyard which would produce something bigger than HLJ. There are as yet no confirmed plans, so no speculation please! Pete and the team will let the world know as and when they're good and ready.
  11. Doris? Who the **** is Doris? 😉 You need to fix that autoincorrect on your phone. 🤣
  12. If I understand their history correctly, the green SYP loco is, technically speaking, a class 30 (original cr@p Mirrlees engine) and not a class 31 (re-engined with an English Electric engine). As there are no extant class 30s, there is nothing from which to take a sound recording. Hence no sound fitted option. I'm not sure if any were re-engined while still in green. Can anybody confirm or deny the existence of green SYP class 31s?
  13. Who has announced a class 74? Have I missed something or is it a typo?
  14. How frequently does the shuttle bus run? Is there a timetable published? All I can find is that the first bus from the station is at 8:30 and last from the racecourse at 17:30. My train arrives at 37 minutes past the hour and I don't fancy a 53 minutes wait if they are only hourly. :-(
  15. Very true. I for one will never feel any nostalgia for Pacers. However, if I may play Devil's advocate, we now have the concept of "the Concorde moment". The point at which no change ever seems to bring any improvement and usually quite the reverse. By example, every new train is less comfortable than the old one it replaced. Pacers are perhaps the exception that proves this rule. Maybe RTR models are reaching their "Concorde moment" to remain afordable and consequently commercially viable, levels of fitted detail will have to fall? Only time will tell.
  16. A great suggestion. If Bachmann were to tool-up the Thompson BG to the correct length and make it available in BR maroon, then I would replace my fleet of the original overlength ones. :-)
  17. Good call! BR(S) green for me please. A centre car would allow the production of a 4EPB too.
  18. If we're whishlisting here, I'd like to see more of the Bulleid coaches in later condition wearing BR(S) green. Also, a diagram 2406 BCK in BR(S) green please Mr Bachmann.
  19. A BFK would be a welcome addition. Not been done RTR before. Without the roof ribs please. :-)
  20. All the interim formations used during the construction period of the 5WES sets are outlined on the Blood & custard website I cited earlier. https://www.bloodandcustard.com/BR-3TC-4TC-4REP-Bournemouth-1966.html
  21. Have a mooch around these two websites to start your education into all things Southern; https://sremg.org.uk/home.shtml https://www.bloodandcustard.com/#Railways
  22. Hello Dave, I think this is Glazebury, on the Chat Moss line, rather than Glazebrook on the CLC. Best regards, Bob.
  23. So long as these basic models are corectly dimentioned and those details that are fitted are correct, bring it on. A highly detailed model that's the wrong size and shape is not going to sell to me at any price (no examples will be cited by me as the laws of libel apply to the interweb). IMHO such basic models would need to be complete enough to be painted and lined. I'd be happy to add numbers etc. This would be perhaps an advantage for wagons and coaches, where one might desire far more than one of each? I have a fleet of "design clever" 2BILs and 2HALs that have been detaileded, renumberd and what not and I'm very happy with them. In fact, how about a "tin HAL" to the same specification please Hornby?
  24. More types of Bachmann Bulleid coaches in late condition wearing BR(S) green please.
  25. For layout planning purposes in 00, I would allow 11" for a MkI coach. A loco plus 2 coaches would be something like 30" to 34", so a 3' long traverser, sectorplate or turntable type fiddleyard will be sufficient. For a fan of points and sidingsobviously you'll need something longer. Allow about 9" for each medium radius turnout. HTH.
