  3. Well if we're doing the Christmas pleasantries you might as well have your card. A Happy Christmas from gwrrob and friends.
  4. Are you sure it was 2manyspams as no one has heard from him in a while. The Finchings spent some time on the Eastern side so and mental problems stem from then.
  5. Well it will soon be that time of the year again.A time for reflection and a time for panicking over what to get swmbo.. No that's not true.I've bought her a nice lovely armchair.I just need to put a plug on it. However I wonder what the Christmas of 1947 would have brought the lovely young Finching sisters.Over to you lot.
  6. On the twelth day of Christmas my true love gave to me.12 Alka -Seltzers....

  7. I thought you'd gone all HOe on us.Anyway you show me yours and I'll show you mine. Incidently,I started this thread on the 16th March and we have them in our hands nine months on which is superb considering the production problems of the far east etc.

I really hope you get your model in time Michael.
  9. Lets HOPE it's just an artists impression then.History isn't the case is it.
  10. There are these sides too that could be used as an overlay on those clerestory's although I'm not knowledgeable to say which of the diagrams were still being used in the late 40s.I don't know either how much work is involved in building them. http://247developments.co.uk/gwr_coaches.html
  11. Fabulous David. You're giving Mikkel a run for his money with your replies. Talking of me being discerning, could one of these be justified on the South Devon banks I wonder.I'm sure I've seen one in the Norman Lockett book I have.
  12. Now then chaps I hope you haven't been on the Christmas spirit early but we are not in the late 70s now, mores the pity music wise but that's another story. So is too much to ask for a 21st century model coach based on a GWR prototype please.A clerestory might have been ok a few years ago but I'm more discerning nowadays. Now where was I .Oh yes.Dear Mr Kohler of Margate..........
  13. I hope you're not implying my Santa decoration is tasteless young man. Anyway word out from Augustus Snodgrass is that he's well disgusted that Hornby have ignored the GWR again on the coaching stock front. There's only so many times he can watch ,as Bachmann Colletts whizz by. Would a LNER CCT have been seen in South Devon ?
  14. Mine is on it's way to Santa as I speak.Look out over Christmas on my layout thread for it. It looks very nice.

Very nice work Glenn. It would look even better with a Collett 4000 gallon tender in post war livery.
  16. It also could have been this two who seem to be out working in all weathers but they're hardy souls and a bit of snow won't deter Augustus and Arthur. He must be hard he's working in his shirt sleeves. Other than mince pies ,shortages to be found in the South Hams include coaching stock.

  18. A spokesman for Mr S Claus of The North Pole exotic plants society confirmed they are indeed Devonshire Cordylines.A rare species only found on platforms in the South Hams.
