  1. and who could of imagined that a manufacturer would shell out £1,000,000 on making a model train. Which is what I understand Bachmann have shelled out to get their new class 47 into production!
  2. Texture is everything to my (good) eye, and less is definitely more in most cases. Of course, once I get to that stage I'll let you know
  3. What's car polish? Whatever it is, what brand is it (t-cut?) and didn't you do a demo about using it on yere once upon a time? And finally should I go back to bed for an hour?
  4. None of us (working at a FE college) are allowed to WFH anymore, even though in most cases for support staff it made life for everyone cheaper and a damn sight easier. So I suspect other sectors will follow suit, but speaking personally it may reduce costs for employers by downsizing their physical premises due to their staff WFH.
  5. Bang on Andi, I'm thinking that mothballing the infrastructure as a whole and only removing certain structures due to age and or maintenance issues would have saved money then and billions now. These structures would inevitably have had to been rebuilt anyway, so removing them then, but retaining the 'estate' would have been the best option.
  6. Isn't the guard going to get chilly with his van that way around?

    Dapol Class 22

This may seem a draft question (and most likely is) but, what do you folks think about the possibility of another run of the 4mm 22's in the future? There's a fair few about on the 2nd hand market but they're looking far too pricey for old toys to me. Cheers
  8. What does the panel think of using swede (that'll be neep to viewers up top, but who cares as they're rutabagas anyway) in a veg curry?

The Mrs has gone off to meet her daughter in Malta for 10 days and left loads of veg that isn't pies, sausages, white bread or chips and I'm bu99ered if I know what to do with it!

Mikkel, doesn't their ambassador have anything to say about this practice?

They seem to be more than content! Anyway Tim D, I was only joking about the Carlsberg. That stuff is only fit for Swedes, not swedes.

  9. Do you know if the rail head is finer on the SMP compared to Peco etc? I got a bargain box and a half of OO SMP from eBay years ago and had heard the profile is thinner than other code 75. I'm toying with the idea of using the Peco bullhead medium radius points when they arrive (as a back up in case I completely loose my {dodgy} point building abilities and give up again) and thinking about compatibility of the rail.... or I just get me files out Cheers
  10. Just Googled clubs in Lincolnshire and got "Sugarcubes" night club, which has sent me right off on a tangent* 'cos I don't think I've got any of their albums. I do have Kukl's , Holidays in Europe (The Naughty Nought), on Crass Records though. * Just dropped Nola off for the airport bus and I am now wide awake!
  11. Missed out on these little Beattie beauties first time around. So this EFE version, in BR late crest, has finally rocked up to Dubya Villas, coming yesterday courtesy of Model Railways Direct. She ran like a dream straight from the box, admittedly only on the rolling road but nothing wrong with the running at all. Nice and slow after 30 minutes in each direction too. Cheers
  12. That's all well and good Clive but this just rocked up in the post (where's my bleedin' Howes order postie?).
  13. Poor old Anthony Quinn, he hated being asked about Zorba the Greek and not his other films, I guess because nobody else had seen them. Oh and people assuming he was Greek himself, what with him being born a Mexican an' all.
  14. Das ist keine schlechte Idee, alter Junge. Diese verrückten Krauts haben einen sehr ähnlichen Diesel wie die guten alten Kriegsschiffe in der westlichen Region. Danke schön Dubai
  15. It was taken over by Norton-Radstock College at some point. I was a student there in 1991/2 on a C&G graphic design course, in both the station building and goods shed. Norton-Radstock College was taken over by the City of Bath College (to form Bath College) a couple of years back. The site at South Hill Park, Radders, is now known as the Somer Valley Campus (of Bath College). They may be able to help you fill in some of the gaps, contact details should be on their site somewhere. https://www.bathcollege.ac.uk Cheers Dubya
  16. Good man, the makings of a LSWR 330 class saddleback, knew you'd come around eventually
  17. I hope so, at least for the glossing, I find it the darkest of the arts where decorating is concerned.
  18. Most suited to quay work no doubt
